5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down - Both Touching and Funny
This book made me laugh and cry. I didn't expect it. As I read some of the confessions I wondered how did they get those quotes from me! I have said those things - especially the 'gas station' statement. I have so much to say as a mommy and even if it's not pretty, I still need someone to talk to. Moms need friends and other moms to confide in. Mostly I need someone...

3.0 out of 5 stars Short and eye opening
I enjoyed this book, as the mother of a toddler and a tween I could identify with many of the confessions in the book. Either "wow, I've felt exactly that" or "no way would I do that, could I do that"

It was a fine book, but I am giving it only three stars because about 100 of the 200+ pages are 1 liners taken from the website. I read the whole thing cover...

It was a fine book, but I am giving it only three stars because about 100 of the 200+ pages are 1 liners taken from the website. I read the whole thing cover to cover in about an hour. While the book is listed at 288 pages, it's more like 90 pages if you take out all the snippets from her website.

If I'd bought the book I'd be giving it two stars. Thankfully it was a gift.

This is a cute gift-book maybe for a mom or mom-to-be, but not really a "good read" so to speak. There is a lot of wasted space. At least 50% of the pages have only one or two sentences on them. There was a lot that I could not relate to since it had to do with hubbies, breastfeeding and what your body looks like after giving birth and I'm single and adopting.

I think this book is really bad, every whole page had about 1 to 2 sentences on it, I thought it was going to have actual stories in it. It could have been about 20 pages long!

She is making money with our confessions! I can't believe it. I wish I could write her how I really feel about it in this place.

I really did love the book. I was alittle surprised in regards to most of the book is actually just a quote on each page. Making this a very quick read. But something I could actually go back and reread because it's so short, and so funny. It's very enlightening to see so many mom's different feelings and stories...I laughed out loud at parts. Very good read, wish it had more stories though!

Mostly I need someone to laugh and share my 'crazy' mom moments with...and that is what this book is, moms processing the unspoken truths...Sometimes it feels good to know we are all in the same boat. Thanks Romi Lassally for making me feel a little closer to perfect.

3.0 out of 5 stars A funny, short read. Definitely not worth full price., May 26, 2011

Each page is one confession, with the sections separated by a page or so of text...so not a hefty read by any means. Yes, the confessions are fun to read, but there's no way I would pay full price for this book. I would have rather seen way more confessions since there was definitely room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Gift Idea, June 5, 2010

I bought this book for my sister for Mother's Day. She is your stereotypical soccer mom, and occasionally she calls me to confess things she's done, always ridden with guilt(I'm the single little sister who sees children as WAY in the future). I saw an ad for this book and instantly thought of her. Ever since she received it in the mail, she has been calling my mom and I constantly to tell us her favorite stories.

The only downfall is that it is a pretty quick read, but that makes it great for busy moms! Between T-ball, soccer, and play dates, my sister finds it to fit into her schedule perfectly, reading just one or two per day. I highly recommend this and I know my sister would too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Laughter for My Mom, October 15, 2009

This review is from: True Mom Confessions: Real Moms Get Real (Paperback)
This book may be technically considered a "parenting" book, but really its more a reminder for Moms not to forget that they are still people and just because they are taking care of kids doesn't mean that forgetting about themselves is ok.
I heard about it in an interview with the author on NPR and was instantly interested. It tells stories about Moms from any situation you can think of.
The thing that really got me was one women who had gained some baby fat that wouldn't go away and everyone kept consoling her about it. She wrote that she wishing everyone would just leave her alone and stop making it sound like she was somehow less now. She LIKED the way she looked!

But the book isn't just stories, its thought provoking. Like why was Mom snapping at her kids all day for no reason? Well, when was the last time she had a day off? Time for herself? Hell, when was the last time she had time to go soak (uninterrupted)in a hot bath for an hour??

The book makes a correlation between how you can be a better parent by taking care of yourself. Less stressed = more patient.

This book is a fantastic reminder to take care of yourself. Even if its something small like locking the bathroom door when you're using it.

I bought this for my overworked, Mom and she loved it! Relating to some of the brutally honest stories really cracked her up. She could read a little snipped here and there as a little pick-me-up during the day.

I am SO glad I got this book for her!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are a mother, you should read this book., June 3, 2009

I encourage ALL moms (regardless of how old their children are) to read this book. There is something empowering and validating about realizing that even your darkest fears/secrets/fantasies/etc. have been thought or felt by someone else. You know, the ones you can't even share with the play group moms, the PTA moms, or even your BFF lest you be judged. It is a super fast read and I defy you to finish it without saying at least once "wow, that's totally me." I borrowed this book from the library but I plan to buy it so I can read it at least once a year to remind myself that no mom is perfect and I'm doing a pretty good job, despite the way I feel sometimes.
