Tarot cards are not a Gypsy tool to take money from trusting people. When an acknowledged MA with decades of work in psychology and intuitive studies, a Reiki master, teacher and life purpose coach decides to spread the light of Psychic Tarot knowledge, the phenomenons like this book happen.

From a very grounded point of view you learn what psychic arts are and how to achieve the basic level of development "in your own kitchen" i.e. without the need to take classes with psychics and clairvoyant people. And if reading for yourself and others does not excite you, you will have clear guidelines on how to discern which psychic is right for you and is a genuine ethical intuitive.

Some of the techniques, for example, grounding variations, are a MUST to know for every person in our time in order to stay focused, healthy and productive.

And the section on Tarot Cards and their interpretation deserves a separate big THANK YOU because it is simple, practical, and yet spiritual enough to fully grasp the rainbow mosaics of the meanings.

Diane Wing is also an amazing professional in vocational astrology and life and business coaching.

I cannot recommend The True Nature of Tarot highly enough and hope that one day Diane writes a sequel, which will look at her free flowing card reading technique in details.

I have always been fascinated with the occult and consider myself to be a "sensitive". My favorite part of the book was when I learned how to ground and center myself. I often feel like I'm all over the place and that can be very overwhelming. If you're interested in learning about Tarot, this is your book! Another great thing about this book is that it's printed on "green" paper!

Author, Diane Wing, has created a guide to those who have questions about Tarot. She provides insight into all aspects of Tarot showing the reader that it isn't warrant of the negative press that it has received throughout its history.

Diane has been reading the Tarot for over twenty-five years as well as being a Reiki master, teacher and life coach with a Masters degree in psychology and many years in intuitive studies. Diane has spent many years fine tuning the art of Tarot and providing all she knows in this comprehensive 101 manual for the newcomer and a more advance reader for the experienced, it suits all who read it.

This book will allow you to experience your own intuitive abilities by helping you to grow or you can just use this as a casual reader answering any questions you may have about the subject. There is also a section in which she discusses the purported "evil" aspects of Tarot, bringing many interesting thoughts to the fore.

I loved how this book will take you through the steps of getting your cards read and the danger signs to look out for, as well as, there are tips for the card reader within the pages. I thought it was really well written and didn't leave me wondering what the author was talking about.

I was equally thrilled to read about the individual tarot cards themselves. I have never seen anyone describe the cards such as Diane Wing has, they are more true to human nature than the stiff descriptions of other cards I have read!

I enjoyed reading all the things that could impact a reading, I don't read tarot myself, but my youngest sister does and I was amazed to see that she did things mentioned in this book naturally. I always thought she had a remarkable gift and after reading The True Nature Of Tarot, I can see she truly does!

I have been reading Tarot for over 30 years and for the last 20 years or so, I have considered the Angeles Arrien classic The Tarot Handbook to be my mainstay when I need to clarify something. Now, I have found a new Tarot book that I will be using as my authority on Tarot, in addition to the Arrien book.

The True Nature of Tarot is a practical approach to reading the Tarot. One of the unique things about this book is that it is appropriate for a very new beginner, as well as an experienced old-timer. Ms. Wing has a gift for cutting right to the point, both in her instructions and possibly even more importantly, in her interpretations of the cards. While Ms. Arrien's book contains lengthy descriptions of interpretation, Ms. Wing's book uses an economy of words, yet still provides a thorough and accurate description of the meaning of each card. She uses the Rider-Waite Tarot deck as a model for the Tarot. This is an excellent choice for beginners, as the deck is often the Tarot reader's first deck that they use to learn about Tarot.

Ms. Wing is a professional Tarot reader of many years experience and she also teaches the art of Tarot reading. She helps the new student learn about grounding and protection when doing a reading and she also speaks to the psychic side of reading as well. In the opening chapters of the book, it is easy to see that Ms. Wing takes great care in describing how to provide new students of Tarot with a safe environment in which to learn and practice.

One of my pet peeves is that Tarot readers usually have no actual counseling experience and while they may be excellent readers, often the message doesn't come through clearly and/or cannot be heard by the client because of how the information is presented to them. Ms. Wing is well aware of this problem in the teaching of Tarot and her goal is to provide Tarot students with the necessary basic tools of counseling so that both the reader and the reading can be far more effective. Unfortunately, most of the Tarot books I have read don't address this issue and this is only one of the reasons I think so highly of this book.

In addition to counseling, information is also presented on the importance and how-to of grounding, including several different techniques. This way, the student can choose what is most comfortable and helpful for them. Along with grounding, the intensity of energy coming through the cards and how to handle it, is also addressed, as well as choosing a Tarot deck, how to allow the student's own psychic intuition to come through and deciding what spread to use to do the reading. The free-form spread, laid out according to the flow of energy, is introduced. I found this to be an intriguing idea and it has been one that is quite useful to me. Other spreads include the Journey spread; the Self spread; the Main Issue spread; Past Life Reading; and the Quick Answer spread.

These are only some of the gems from this book. Other important information includes new ways of seeing patterns in the cards; choosing an ethical practitioner for a reading; learning good ethical practices for the professional Tarot reader; and much, much more.

If you buy only one Tarot book this year, make sure you choose The True Nature of Tarot. No Tarot library would be complete without this book; you will treasure it for years to come.

In all the years I've been reading Tarot cards, I have never come across a book like yours!...I loved it!...It was very explicit down to the very smallest detail on each card...It made you feel very comfortable about the cards...Some books get too involved in the metaphysical and spiritual nature of the deck, but yours did not...I thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover...I teach the Tarot...I have been reading and doing ritual and spells with the cards for over 50 years...I often tell my clients that my children may lie to me sometimes, but my cards never will!...I especially enjoyed how you explained the court cards...You hit the nail right on the head when, for instance, you explained the Knight of Swords...'"He is the kind of person that makes you nervous when he comes within ten feet of you"'...I have not seen that explanation in other books, at least not how you put it...You make learning the Tarot easy and fun, not stodgy and hard!...I enjoyed taking a refresher course with your book...I would recommend your book to my first time students and advanced...That you chose the Rider-Waite deck for illustration is perfect...People usually choose this deck because it has so much information in each illustration that you don't need the explanation that comes with it...Keep writing the way you do and more people will want to read more...Rev. Anyone who practices, or wants to learn the tarot will enjoy reading "The True Nature of Tarot".

Written in an easy to understand and enjoyable to read format, Diane shares with the reader her knowledge and inner wisdom gained through years of experience and experiences of being a tarot reader.

Given the nature of the subject I was intrigued. Yes, I own a deck of tarot cards, and yes, every once in awhile I pull them out to seek an answer. Or two.

But the little book that came with cards, while it describes the cards and their meanings nicely, what is lacks is what Diane's book offers; the permission and guidance to listen to your inner voice more as you perform a reading.

Diane also speaks to the tarot reader from a professional standpoint. For those of you who offer readings to groups or individuals either for fun or as a business, Diane explains processes that help make the experience as pleasant and insightful as possible for both the reader and the seeker.

I enjoyed the book. It made me pull out my tarot deck and take a closer look at each card, letting the meaning of each one speak to me. I think the next time I ask a question of the cards, with Diane's book as a reference; I will be able to gather much more information.

And more information is exactly what we're seeking when we sit for a tarot card reading.

In The True Nature of Tarot, Diane Wing has presented a very practical and objective view of the art of using this divination tool in order to connect to Universal Energy. While her experience renders the author an expert on the subject, she does not presume in the book to be the ultimate authority, but rather encourages the reader to find their own insight in using the Tarot and to make their own interpretations.

The author acknowledges and then dispels misconceptions of the occult and particularly the Tarot, describing it rather as a "tool of enlightenment and understanding." Using her own experience as an example, she clearly explains the process of a psychic reading, from the perspective of the readER and the inquirer, i.e., the person getting a reading. General information is given in developing psychic ability, preparation and the process of receiving psychic impressions and how information may be interpreted. The author also discusses obstacles and factors that might influence the process of receiving valid information.

Additionally, information is given about the Tarot deck itself, the method of doing a reading and some of the generally accepted meanings of the individual cards in the most commonly used deck. Emphasis is made, however, on the fact that one's own intuition should always be applied in using the Tarot to gain insight.

The True Nature of Tarot is a useful tool for the experienced psychic reader or as an introduction to the curious and anyone who wishes to expand their understanding and use of Tarot cards as a tool for gaining insight. Diane's presentation is sensible, objective and easily accessible to novice and expert alike. I thoroughly enjoyed it and came away with an expanded view and understanding of the Tarot.

The True Nature of Tarot is just that, a personal account by the author with her own interpretations. I do feel Tarot is misunderstood and greatly misrepresented as `satanic', often by those with `tunnel-vision' feelings. I know I have received a few looks from strangers when I have my cards out. (I'm a big fan of The Halloween Tarot by Kipling West.). I did like how Diane compared the use of Tarot with that of a computer programmer as both can be used for good or bad. Most often in computer programming, the work is for the better and not considered a bad thing. (After all, how many of us rely on technology in our life?)

Diane does offer a few things that I have not encountered in previous tarot books, such as the deck overview, a few good grounding techniques and her discussion on the energy field. However, the interpretations or card meanings lack any uniqueness from the summary insert or other books I have personally encountered. Granted what does make each card or reading unique is the person reading, their own interpretations as well as their own beliefs. I also feel the claim on her book "Your path to personal empowerment' is misleading as this book is more geared to providing tarot spreads for others, not a personal reading for the self. I was disappointed as I know of many, like myself; enjoy utilizing tarot for our own personal daily insight. As someone that understands personal boundaries and ethics, it is good that it is brought up, but I personally feel that it also comes down to common sense, courtesy and respect that a person does not just blurt things out or share information with another person.

For the novice that would like to attempt tarot readings for friends and family, this would be a good start. For a one hundred and seventy-eight page book, only forty-four of those pages offer the information the author wishes to impart on the reader.

However, I do not see anything that would make this book stand out from the others I have encountered and purchased.
