5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music. You'll never get tired of hearing Fisher.
The band Fisher (singer Kathy Fisher's last name) has been around for a while. The band became a star of downloads before signing with farmclub[...] I bought the original release CD, "One" over a year ago. Some of my favorite songs that have been carried over to this CD are "Hello, It's Me", "I Will Love You", and "Any Way"...

3.0 out of 5 stars has its moments...
At the heart of Fisher is the duo of Kathy Fisher on vocals and keyboardist Ron Wasserman. The vocals sound like a combination of Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos, but with the grit of Alanis Morissette. Making their debut on the Great Expectations soundtrack, Fisher has been wildly successful on the Internet; logging literally millions of downloads from various sites,...

The band Fisher (singer Kathy Fisher's last name) has been around for a while. The band became a star of downloads before signing with farmclub[...] I bought the original release CD, "One" over a year ago. Some of my favorite songs that have been carried over to this CD are "Hello, It's Me", "I Will Love You", and "Any Way". However, there is not a single song that Fisher has performed that I do not enjoy.

The music and lyrics are excellent. Very well-written and performed. Kathy's voice is too distinctive to compare to anyone else.

[...] You'll find that this CD is worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars your soul deserves to hear this, November 2, 2000
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
Fisher's music sounds like a crisp and clear autumn morning. It's got kind of a quartermoon feeling to it; You know you're heading somewhere good from the moment you put it on.

But Fisher is also a lot more. She can be a sensual Tori Amos or a female version of Chris Cornell. Honest music. The kind of music you will have on the soundtrack of your life. The kind of music that will make you think of the ones you love.

I know my christmas shopping will be easy this year.

I just recieved Fisher's "True North", and I cannot believe how amazing this CD is. Kathy Fisher has quite possibly the sweetest voice ever, and every single song is heart wrenchingly beautiful, and easy to relate to. Not to mention how amazing Ron Wasserman's musicianship is. You owe it to yourself to buy "True North" - it is honest, beautiful, and quite possibly the only CD you will need to buy this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised, November 16, 2000

I have been listening to Fisher's velvety voice for over a year now since discovering her downloads on MP3.com. I instantly ordered 'One" and 'Minus One'. I let my friends hear the cd's and quickly ordered more copies of 'One' along with the t-shirt. Perfect Christmas gifts. Now 'True North' is exceptional in every aspect of pop music today. From the voice, to the lyrics, to the great musicianship of Ron Wasserman, 'True North' will always be available and ready to listen to. This cd has a great mix of pop, rock and sensual heartbreaking ballads. Men take note: your woman will love you if you listen to Fisher together. I have that same familiar warm feeling listening to Fisher as I did when I heard Sarah Maclachlan for the first time. The only difference is that I get that same feeling every time I listen to Fisher. Get it now. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truley Amazing!, November 22, 2000

This L.A. woman is truley amazing. Her music is calm and reassuring, as well as powerfully moving. Her songs will make you laugh, smile and cry about your own experiences in life as her captivating voice and touching lyrics take control of your heart and soul. Fisher's new album, 'True North,' is a phenomenal collection of songs that any other veteran singer/songwriter would be happy to have accomplished in an entire career. With songs such as, "Breakable," "Any Way" and by far the best love song ever written, "I Will Love You." it is already apparent that Fisher has the talent to last a lifetime. Anyway, I can guarantee you will love Fisher's music, especially her new album, 'True North.' Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthy art/pop and an amazing voice., November 17, 2000
By

This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
Many of the songs on True North are re-recordings from One, their indie effort no longer available, and each of them sound so much crisper and tighter than their previous versions. The new tracks are just as impressive.

Kathy & Ron's music shows a wide breadth of style and character. Warm, soft, expressive ballads like 'I Will Love You', pure, driving rock tunes like 'The Life', and even well-crafted combinations of the two genres like 'Had To' (one of the album's strongest songs) fill this 13 track consortium of lyrical, dynamic "art/pop".

Fisher has a good sense of songwriting skills, interesting chord progressions, and creative lyric writing (From 'Had To': "I can recall every face that I have ever kissed. How did I fall on your Miss Miscellaneous list?"). This 52 minute album is concise and works well as a collective unit, not just haphazardly thrown-together songs, just to fill air time. I don't believe there are *any* "filler" tracks here. True North is well worth many repeat listens. Kathy's voice truly has that certain something that so many others in the genre lack. If female vocalists are your thing, just the soulful quality of hers in the first lines of 'I Will Love You' will be enough to hook you and the rest will just reel you in. (Sorry, I couldn't resist the pun.) Simply a great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars TRANSCENDENT, November 23, 2000

Kathy Fisher's vocals are in turn lush and edgy. Ron Wasserman more makes love to, than plays, the piano. The record knows exactly when to sigh, when to rock, when to look wistfully inward and outward. One of the year's ten best.

5.0 out of 5 stars An immediate favorite, November 21, 2000
By

"I Will Love You" is quite possibly the best love song ever written, and is the real clincher on the album. But anyone who thinks that "I Will Love You" is a one-hit-wonder will be pleasantly surprised by this album, because every single song is amazing. And I don't say that lightly. On albums by some of my favorite artists, there are still a few songs that I skip. Even some of the most brilliant musicians can't be expected to hit the bulls-eye every time. But I listen intently to every song on "True North". The piano-laced music hooks you immediately, but remains refreshing over time, so that each listen is as exciting as the first. Kathy's voice is seductive and captivating, compelling you to hang onto every word. Songs push you to the limit emotionally through poetic and thoughtful lyrics. The album is musically and emotionally reminiscent of Tori, Alanis, and Sarah, but definitely unique. Some favorites are "Miseryland", "Breakable", and "Human". My only complaint about the album is that I wish there were more songs, because I can't get enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fisher - True Genius, November 17, 2000
By
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
"Don't forget to breathe..." I know it'll be hard, but try. Fisher's new album, True North, is phenomenal artistry at its very best. Kathy Fisher and Ron Wasserman, the dynamite husband-wife songwriting team behind this bold new band, have constructed a masterpiece that promises to be a virtual reservoir of #1 hit singles. From the soothing sounds of I Will Love You to the bitter chords of The Life, True North shows off Kathy and Ron's exceptional talent to produce brilliantly diverse material. No matter what your musical tastes may be, I guarantee you this: Kathy's voice will wrap itself around you and refuse to let you go. But that's a good thing. Because once you hear Fisher, you'll be hooked.

If you've been lucky enough to chance upon this page, the hard work's already done. I think I found Fisher through an obscure link somewhere, and it was the best click I ever made! This isn't just an album with a couple of really cracking songs, every single track will move you in a way you can't even begin to contemplate - I kid you not.

If you already have a favourite band, or CD; it's about to change...
