5.0 out of 5 stars Servent of our Lord
I have been a fan of Twila's for most of my life. True North is such a joy to listen to and is right on target. My favorite songs are "Wisdom" and "Could you believe". I consider Twila to be a mentor and strongly recomend her music to anyone. Her music will speak to you where ever you are in your relationship with Christ. Thank you Twila for...

1.0 out of 5 stars Twila's WORST album.
I personally am an avid listener of her music because I felt that her music is very sincere and worshipful. HOWEVER, this album-along with "Beyond a Dream" - is packed with songs that are very rock and pop-oriented. And there are fewer worship songs on her album. It is not up to her usual standards. It seems that the album was made with a certain sound to up the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, February 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
This CD is a "must have" to any christian music collection, especially a woman's. Her lyrics speak right to the heart and I feel like I'm praying as I sing along. Wondering Out Loud and Could You Believe brings tears because of it's poignancy. I choose Grace and Daughter of Grace are truly grounding and show me the way the Lord wants me to be. Her delivery of these songs couldn't be better and signify true praise to the Lord and her quest for his guidance.

Twila's songs on this album moved me in way that I haven't been touched by music before. Daughter of Grace truly captures my feelings as believer rejoicing in the saving love of Christ. Check your pride in at the door, these songs will humble you and restore your broken spirit.

In my opinion, Twila is one of the most poignant and inspired songwriters in Christian music. Every song on this album makes it worthwhile. It is worshipful, yet honest about our follies as humans. And best of all, her lyrics read like poetry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twila Paris's best album yet-wonderful lyrics,great sound, October 27, 1999
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
This is one of those cd's that you hear once and want to play over and over. Twila Paris continues to display such a clear, sweet, voice that is so unique. The selections of songs are a good blend of upbeat rhythms and soulful ballads. The title cut, True North is one of my favorites. This music would appeal to almost anyone, but to those who appreciate the Christian message, it is an absolute MUST for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars She never fails to pull it off!, July 20, 2001

Twila has been my favorite artist for 12 years. I was so busy when this CD came out, that it is the first one in 10 years that I have not purchased with a few days of its release. I got this CD when it was three weeks old, and played it to death.

Simply put, she holds firm to her convictions of who Jesus is and what He has done, but presents her beliefs in an easily accesible form. The driving passionate feel of Wisdom, the joyous pump of Delight My Heart, and the subtle depth of the title cut make this a great addition to her list of projects. It will be a welcomed addition to your collection of Christian Music. This faithful friend vulnerably presents herself and her life once more as a daughter of grace.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different sound, great songwriting as usual, September 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
More subdued and not as "pop" sounding as earlier Brown Bannister produced efforts, there's still plenty to like in Twila's new album. Her songwriting as always is top notch, with gems like "True North", "Could You Believe" and "When you Speak to Me". "True North" does not contain the stylistic variety of "Where I Stand" and does not demonstrate any new directions in Twila's music. But coming in with overly high expectations, I find it difficult to be hard on someone with such great talent who has contributed so much to Christian music over the years. Twila continues to write and perform with extraordinary passion and faith, and "True North" demonstrates this yet again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, July 2, 2005
This review is from: True North (Audio CD)
Unlike some reviewers, I am squarely in this camp: Twila, anytime you want to work with Charlie Peacock is just fine with me! The "rock/pop" feel, to use a rather simplistic term, certainly comes from Peacock but is not popular in a negative sense (like cookie cutter songs). Peacock and Scott Dente surely leave their mark on this album but somehow make it all the more powerfully Twila's. For me, this is Christian music at its best. The synergy of Twila's gifts as a songwriter and vocalist along with Charlie's gifts of production and arrangement is just wonderful. Oh, and even better is the way they together manage to let the songs speak with emotional force and compliment each other to make an album. Now, however much I enjoy Peacock's influence--in this album and CRY FOR THE DESERT--I realize that others do not (notice the balance in the poll of favorite albums on her website). So I will just say my part: thank you both, and all those who helped, for this powerful album.
