Upon purchasing this album, I wasn't at all sure what to expect. I had heard Boyd sing "True Reflections" in a live setting but beyond that knew nothing of his personal music style...only what he contributed to DMB. After my first listen to this album, I was hooked.
Tinsley has broken out of the DMB mold, crafting his own songs that are much more country-flavored in style. Tinsley a unique voice that will pleasantly surpise many who expected this album to be mostly instrumental fiddling songs.
Highlights on the album are "Listen", the first single, "It's Alright" and "Cinnamon Girl"--a cover that has been slowed down and grooved out. "True Reflections" is the only song on the album in which Dave Matthews sings backup and he's used sparingly, letting Tinsley carry the concert staple with authority. The rest of the songs are uplifting and catchy, they'll have you humming the melodies after you listen.
This is Tinsley's first commercial attempt at sharing his own music with the world..the production, writing and musicianship are outstanding. He makes good use of all the guest musicians and shines through every song.
I would highly recommend this album!
