Upon purchasing this album, I wasn't at all sure what to expect. I had heard Boyd sing "True Reflections" in a live setting but beyond that knew nothing of his personal music style...only what he contributed to DMB. After my first listen to this album, I was hooked.

Tinsley has broken out of the DMB mold, crafting his own songs that are much more country-flavored in style. Tinsley a unique voice that will pleasantly surpise many who expected this album to be mostly instrumental fiddling songs.

Highlights on the album are "Listen", the first single, "It's Alright" and "Cinnamon Girl"--a cover that has been slowed down and grooved out. "True Reflections" is the only song on the album in which Dave Matthews sings backup and he's used sparingly, letting Tinsley carry the concert staple with authority. The rest of the songs are uplifting and catchy, they'll have you humming the melodies after you listen.

This is Tinsley's first commercial attempt at sharing his own music with the world..the production, writing and musicianship are outstanding. He makes good use of all the guest musicians and shines through every song.

I would highly recommend this album!

Suprisingly Good January 25, 2005

If you forget the fact that he's a member of one of the biggest rock band's in america and just look at this disc as it's own being then I find it actually quite enjoyable. Not every song here is a winner but it's a good country flavored mellow rock album. Thumbs up for boyd.

I am saddened to see that several reviewers chose to pick and choose who's better within the group. This album is awesome righteous and I think Boyd rocks! It's creative & different. You can't compare Boyd's album to Dave's album, b/c they're completely different. That's the whole point! Geez! Anyways, kudos to Boyd on a kicka** album. I've been a fan of DMB for almost 11 years now and I finally saw them just a few days ago in Raleigh. I'm 28 years old and I was like a teenage schoolgirl screamin' my head off and seriously jammin' out. Anyway - bottom line - all of the fellas rock and Boyd's album (as well as Dave's) is just another display of how much they are individuals with their own ideas and when they put them together it's something explosive as well. Rock on, Boyd!

Boyd Solo

Stick to playing the fiddle Boyd.
Boyd you are one heck of a fiddler and are a great component to DMB. However, your voice is worse than William Hung's. Read more

A Devoted Fan
This cd was the best. A hell-of-a lot better than "Some Devil" by Dave. True Reflections, the song, the album cover, the lyrics, the beats, it's all amazing. Read more

Too little violin, Too much horrible vocals
I love DMB, particularly Tinsley's contributions on violin, but he can't sing. Who told him he could sing? Boring, dull music. Please Boyd, stick to the fiddle.

A nice start, but Boyd needs to showcase his playing
I picked up this album on a whim, since I'm a big DMB fan. I was disappointed by Boyd's lack of violin showmanship in "True Reflections", the less-than-stellar lyrics,... Read more
