Read this book prior to or contemporaneously with a trip to Key West. It gives you the full scoop on all of the santized facts from your tour guides. This book added a new dimension to our visit and was funny to boot. While it is somewhat hard to locate, it is well worth the effort. Also check out the website maintained by the authors.

I found this book to be a fun and entertaining read. The pictures and text make it a breezy and exciting look at this wonderful city. If you plan to visit Key West, you must get this book to take with on your journey!

True Secrets of Key West is WONDERFUL! I lived in Key West for years and was always annoyed by all the books people wrote that didn't know the REAL story. Books that claimed to be the real story...but they changed the names, dates and circumstances. This is one that got it right AND it was very funny to read. I give True Secrets of Key West my highest recommendation.

This book filled me in on Key West's Culture and History in a very funny and down to earth kind of way. It answered all my questions so that I wouldn't sound like a dumb tourist when I got down there on my Honeymoon.

I've lived in Key West almost 20 years and this is the book I buy for anyone staying with me. In a fun way it covers the history, politics and social fabric of this quirky community.

I suggest you buy it before you visit and make note of the places mentioned in it that you might want to see. If you visit their website you can also download a free map with addresses of everything mentioned.

This book was somewhat hard to follow. It was VERY unorganized. There were a few neat facts about Key West, but the book jumped around from one topic to another and was at times, sarcastic.

This is a very informative, and sometimes light hearted, historical account of my new most favorite place on the planet! Very concise and easy to read. A must for someone planning to go there for the first time.

We enjoyed this book very much - we read it on our way down to Florida and it truly helped us understand what a special place it is! I purchased it based on other reviewers comments and we did not go wrong....

This is without question the best-written, most informative, most lively guide to Key West. It's not your typical travel guide, but you won't find more entertaining information anywhere. This book takes you underneath the sheen, giving you the real picture of what the Conch Republic is really like and how it has come to be the way it is. You'll not be disappointed.
