About the Author

By the time Jonathan Wells turned 22 he was living a lifestyle that probably seemed totally unrealistic to everyone he knew. He had completely abandoned his suburban roots to begin his own personal life quest. Living deep in the forest of southern Oregon, Jonathan stripped his life down to the absolute bare minimum so he could start over from scratch. That's where his real life journey began. More than three decades later Jonathan still loves being surrounded by nature. He considers himself to be an avid student of life, nothing more. He truly believes that living and learning should always go hand in hand and that we can all make a meaningful contribution by sharing what we learn along the way. Over the years he has come to fully appreciate the incredible value that comes from connecting with your TRUE SELF. One of Jonathan's greatest passions in life is to help others make that connection. I love the self-discovery and self-empowerment system presented in True Self. It is simple and easy to understand while also profound and very deep. Jonathan is the kind of person you would like to have as you best friend - authentic, down-to-earth, and wise. He understands how the mind works and provides elegant tools to help you transform self-limiting beliefs and habits. It all starts with rediscovering your core values and reconnecting with your true passions.

Every chapter in this book contains supremely useful ideas and transformative methods, however my favorite chapter is the one on dissolving self-limiting beliefs. Here, Jonathan shows you how to identify your self-limiting beliefs and the emotional anchors behind them. The emotional anchors are key. Without recognizing them you may continue stuck in old patterns indefinitely. Jonathan shows you the tricks for changing your beliefs - ways that actually work.

In the chapter on goals, Jonathan shares startling statistics on the effectiveness of goal-setting. In short, without planning and goal setting, it's highly unlikely you will ever succeed. He goes further than just the mechanics of goal setting and helps you take a deeper look at what success really is, real commitment, and overcoming roadblocks. He also shares the secret to actually making "The Secret" work.

True Self is a complete framework for reconnecting with your core values and passions and a roadmap for success in life. It contains simple and effective exercises that go to the heart of the matter and really help you find your true self. The workbook format makes it possible for you to go at your own pace. This is a system that you will be able to use for a lifetime. I recommend it highly.

If you have ever wished that you had a guide book to help you understand yourself, life and other people then this book is for you.

It is a very easy read but really thought provoking. It is written in a completely down to earth and honest style. Each page provides you with "ah ha" moments about yourself so much so that I began to feel that the author actually knew me better than I knew myself.

An exceptionally clever part of the book is the short exercises the author suggests you complete as you are reading the book. He suggests that you stop reading and put pen to paper to answer the questions. I thought I would give this a try and I can honestly say that they were really useful and beneficial to do. I am not a fan of exercises in books but these are very worthwhile. You can feel your mood rise and your understanding deepen.

I read many "self improvement" books but this one is different. It's not about making massive unrealistic and unsustainable changes to your life it is about making your own life easier as you discover who you really are and what makes you tick.

I highly recommend this book.

Format: Paperback
Do you feel happy, fulfilled and satisfied with your life just as you are right now? Or does your happiness always seem just out of reach -- something that you are always waiting for? Do you feel that you will be satisfied after you accomplish one last goal?

Author Jonathan Wells believes that you have the power and potential to live a satisfied life now. In his book, True Self, he gives you the tools to connect with the "real you" and your deepest passions. He teaches you how to align your core values with what you are most passionate about and bring your vision of a happy and fulfilled life to reality.

True Self begins with a section called "Real Self" in which you discover your core values and passions. You are guided through a series of exercises where you create your vision of your own satisfied life and rid yourself of any beliefs that inhibit your personal growth or your vision of success.

The process continues with five steps where you visualize your specific goals. You become very clear about how these goals align with your core values and then design your steps for reaching them.

The exercises also lead you through techniques to motivate yourself and use your personal power. You learn how to avoid behavior that would sabotage your success and build your own identity as a truly successful person. Finally, you learn to continually increase your growth and deeply enjoy your life and feeling of satisfaction.

This book is for those ready to go on an enjoyable life-changing journey where you will connect with the your true self and live a life filled with passion and fulfillment.

Having followed Jonathan's blog "Advanced Life Skills" for some time, I purchased the book to get a better sense of his beliefs. In summary,I was impressed by the breadth and depth of this work, as well as its maturity. Even more impressive was its "authenticity". This book is written from experience, filled with empathy for other Human Beings and conveys a kind of humility you'll find in the greatest of leaders. Devoid of hype and outlandish claims, True Self is a genuine book intended to help others. And help others it can. Filled with time-tested wisdom and original thoughts, this book has the content needed to break down limiting beliefs, instill a sense of optimism, and provide hope for readers old and young. Practical guidelines, exercises and patterns abound in True Self, alongside interesting and entertaining real-life stories. There's something for everyone at any age and stage of life. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. It's one of those rare works written from the heart.
