A simple yet powerful life guide, October 28, 2010
This review is from: True Self (Paperback)
If you have ever wished that you had a guide book to help you understand yourself, life and other people then this book is for you.
It is a very easy read but really thought provoking. It is written in a completely down to earth and honest style. Each page provides you with "ah ha" moments about yourself so much so that I began to feel that the author actually knew me better than I knew myself.
An exceptionally clever part of the book is the short exercises the author suggests you complete as you are reading the book. He suggests that you stop reading and put pen to paper to answer the questions. I thought I would give this a try and I can honestly say that they were really useful and beneficial to do. I am not a fan of exercises in books but these are very worthwhile. You can feel your mood rise and your understanding deepen.
I read many "self improvement" books but this one is different. It's not about making massive unrealistic and unsustainable changes to your life it is about making your own life easier as you discover who you really are and what makes you tick.
I highly recommend this book.

Wonderful Life Skills Book, October 26, 2010
This review is from: True Self (Paperback)
Jonathan Wells has written an incredibly useful book. Jonathan has a talent to take a lot of complex information and boil it down to the essential in a way that makes it extremely easy to follow. You really should get this book and read it. But don't just read it. Use it. Put it into practice. I don't think you will regret it.
Jonathan walks you through the process step by step with each step building on and adding to the previous. In this way you create an upward spiral that leverages itself. I find Jonathan's writing to be very wise. Every sentence has a purpose. There are no wasted words or fluff. The cost of this book is less than the price of a dinner for one person. Go to dinner or get the book and transform your life? It wasn't much of a choice for me and it shouldn't be for you either.

A favorite for self-discovery and personal empowerment., October 31, 2010
This review is from: True Self (Paperback)
I love the self-discovery and self-empowerment system presented in True Self. It is simple and easy to understand while also profound and very deep. Jonathan is the kind of person you would like to have as you best friend - authentic, down-to-earth, and wise. He understands how the mind works and provides elegant tools to help you transform self-limiting beliefs and habits. It all starts with rediscovering your core values and reconnecting with your true passions.
Every chapter in this book contains supremely useful ideas and transformative methods, however my favorite chapter is the one on dissolving self-limiting beliefs. Here, Jonathan shows you how to identify your self-limiting beliefs and the emotional anchors behind them. The emotional anchors are key. Without recognizing them you may continue stuck in old patterns indefinitely. Jonathan shows you the tricks for changing your beliefs - ways that actually work.
In the chapter on goals, Jonathan shares startling statistics on the effectiveness of goal-setting. In short, without planning and goal setting, it's highly unlikely you will ever succeed. He goes further than just the mechanics of goal setting and helps you take a deeper look at what success really is, real commitment, and overcoming roadblocks. He also shares the secret to actually making "The Secret" work.
True Self is a complete framework for reconnecting with your core values and passions and a roadmap for success in life. It contains simple and effective exercises that go to the heart of the matter and really help you find your true self. The workbook format makes it possible for you to go at your own pace. This is a system that you will be able to use for a lifetime. I recommend it highly.
