Honest, Genuine and Easy-Going...No air-brush here, Folks!,

This book truly reflects Tony Stewart. I was expecting a brash, four-letter word filled, "racy" tale (pun intended!). I was expecting a slick, glossy commercial and carefully edited "seller". Well, there was no air-brushing here, folks! This book has brain and heart. While describing, in racing detail, the road to his success, Tony Stewart and significant others personalize and reflect upon their thoughtful reactions to the chronology. I was convinced of the honest, genuine, easy-going style of the book. All photos are in black and white giving a "scrapbook" feeling to the layout. Every fan of Tony's knows he describes himself as a driver, not the media darling image created around other "famous" drivers. In this book, you feel as if this driver is sitting on the back porch with you recounting for your ears only. This book is convincing that Tony's choice not to join the "cookie-cutter commercialism" of media Nascar Star just doesn't fit his style or personality. At the age of 30, Tony Stewart has already made his mark in just about every vehicle with wheels. Reading this account explains to every fan Tony's blunt honesty is the real deal! The book cover design is a hint to the unsophisticated, honest portrait of a Nascar Champion in the making. The story the way it actually happened not the way the money-makers want to feed it to you! This is indeed "True Speed"..no gimmicks....

True Tony,

This review is from: True Speed: My Racing Life (Hardcover)
True Speed is the story of Tony Stewart's life both on and off the race track. Written by Tony (along with a co-author) True Speed reflects Tony's thoughts and beliefs. I found myself to be an bigger fan after reading the book than I was before. Tony is dedicated to his sport and that is clear in each and every page. Along with Tony's views there are quotes from family, friends, team members, and fellow drivers. This all mixes together to make True Speed a truly interesting read.I am from Indiana and I am very proud to say that I am from the same state as Tony Stewart! Good luck to Tony in everything he does.

I loved this book. It was very entertaining. It really held my attention. As a matter of fact it only took me a week to read it all. That is pretty good for me and always a sign of a good book. I highly recommend it. It had some pretty funny stuff in it.

WOW!! I love Tony even more now!!,

This book is great!! I would recommend this book to any Nascar fan, not just those who love Tony!! When I began reading this book--I absolutely could not put it down! Read the entire book in just one night. It is definitely a true look inside the life and heart of Tony Stewart. The first few chapters are a little hard to follow as he leads you through his start in racing but as you read on into the book and start hearing of all of his adventures in racing and with the media, you are just dying to know more. I just hope that Tony doesn't let it end here, I am sure that there will be more excitement in his life in the next few years and maybe he will write "True Speed 2--A story of a Winston Cup Champion"!! I would recommend this book to everyone and want to wish Tony (if he happens to read this review)----GOOD LUCK IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP Race in 2002!

this book is a great tool for those wanting to know just how someone as talented as Tony Stewart got where he is. Its a book on racing and stays out of being too personal.

Why does Tony act that way?,
By Music Lover (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: True Speed: My Racing Life (Hardcover)
That's a question that race fans have either heard or wondered a good deal over the past few years. To anyone who's followed the sport of NASCAR for a few months two things become obvious: Tony has an unbelievable amount of talent and he seems to attract trouble. Some are his doing and some is not.
In "True Speed" you'll get a lot of background information on Tony the person and Tony the racer straight from himself. There are certain things in life that motivate us all. Tony explains his desire to succeed and attempts (successfully if you ask me) to explain what motivates him. If you've ever wondered why Tony acts the way he does, read this book and find out.

Dis-spells a lot of the myths about Tony and the team. A fantastic, cant put down read about the behind-the-scenes Nascar we watch and love.

Once I picked this book up, it was hard to put down. If you ever wondered what makes Tony Stewart tick, this book has the answer. Like many NASCAR fans, I liked Tony Stewart for his competitive nature and desire, but I did not know much about who he really is.Wanna know why he gets mad? This book tells you. Wanna know why he runs all those "silly" dirt track races? This book tells you. Did you know that giving up the 2002 Indy 500 was probably one of the biggest sacrifices Tony ever made? You'll find out why. Tony will tell you in his own words why he does what he does. You'll also get a lot of insight into Tony through comments and statements made by friends and competitors that are inset into Tony's text throughout the book. If you are a race fan of any kind (please trust me on this!), or just a person who enjoys a gripping autobiography, this book is for you. It is NOT just for NASCAR fans. The only reason I did not give this book 5 stars is that the writing seems a bit condescending and stilted at times. But don't let that stop you from buying and reading this tremendously enjoyable book!

The real Tony Stewart,

This is an excellent book. I am a Jr fan, but this book gave me a whole new insight into Tony Stewart, and what the 'outbursts' are really all about. If you are a fan of NASCAR, whether you're glued to the TV every Sunday or not, this is a book that is worth reading. Just like Jr's book, this is not a life story, but it is definetly worth reading.
