After reading the book "True Stories of the Second World War" I could only think that the soldiers on would war two could only nickname so many superior officers. In this book Paul Dowswell writes about many aspects of The Second World War. Not only does he write about some of the bloodiest battles in WWII but he also writes about many other things that most WWII books do not cover. Such as spies trying to train and cope with the ignorant French Resistance, or the development of the world's most deadly weapon. Paul Dowswell also thankfully does not write about D-Day, instead he thinks of other battles, such as Iwo Jima and Stalingrad. Paul takes almost every aspect of world war two and combines it up into this great book. He also writes about things that I have never read about ever in this book, for example he writes about a female force of fighter pilots nicked named Stalin's Falcons who fought German planes during the battle of Stalingrad. "True Stories of the Second World War" is a great book that I would recommend to anyone to read if they are interested in world war two.

This book is great for people of all ages interested in World War Two! Paul Dowswell does a great job writing about both famous stories and unheard of stories. The smaller stories really do still tell you of what did take place and how they still affected the war. The book includes stories about huge warships at sea, to women fighting on the front line, to snipers hunting eachother from far distances.

I hope my review was helpful to you.

I found that the book was incomplete for a book on the Tirpitz. The assumption was that I would have read the book on the Bismarck. I wanted to know about life on board as well as the chronicle of the attacks on the Tirpitz which I was well aware of. The book read very well and was very detailed in its accounts. I was disappointed in the content.
