5.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh View on Santa Claus, August 29, 2000
This review is from: True Story of Santa Claus (Paperback)
If you wish to merge the magic of Santa Claus with the miracle of Christmas, then look no further. Mr. Prokop has woven a beautiful story that does just this, for young and old alike. "The True Story of Santa Claus" tells the story of a young child on Christmas Eve who is anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival. When he meets Santa himself, he is given an unexpected gift - Santa Claus' own story. Through the medium of this brief story, children can be introduced to the true meaning of Christmas. The words are simple and clear, but not simplistic. The illustrations are crisp and eye-catching. In short, this book puts the "saint" back in Santa and the "Christ" back in Christmas. It can be read by a young reader and is especially ideal to be read outloud by a grown-up with a child sitting close at hand. An excellent read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and Very Appealing Book on St. Nicholas, December 17, 2005
This review is from: True Story of Santa Claus (Paperback)
Do you yearn to reclaim poor old Saint Nicholas from the awful commericalism that has turned him into nothing more than a marketing ploy? Then this is the book for you! It tells the REAL story of Saint Nicholas and how he became Santa Claus. This book puts Jesus firmly back in place as the REASON for Christmas.

My young children [ages 7, 4, 2 and a baby] LOVE this book and all of them can relate to it on their own level. It has been very helpful to us in keeping Christmas about Jesus. The story is sweet [and it *won't* "ruin" Santa for your kids at all - to the contrary it reveals him more fully as the Holy Saint he is]. The illustrations are warm and lovely.

This book is a great tool for helping families keep their celebration focused fully on Christ and the real "meaning of Christmas".

2.0 out of 5 stars The True Story????, November 27, 2007

This review is from: True Story of Santa Claus (Paperback)
We are very disappointed in this book. If you are wanting to still lie to your children about who Santa Claus is but merge that with some truth about Jesus Christ - then this is the book for you. But, if you are like us and want to educate your children on the historical Santa Claus and avoid the "fairytale" Santa Claus that comes down your chimney - then you do not want this book.

The author should learn the definition of true....
