I have always related to Janet's issues with weight, depression and low self esteem. Now after reading her book, my heart goes out to her and her very public struggle. This book is brilliantly written and will make you never want to put it down.

True You by Janet Jackson is a quick good read especially if you have issue with weight lost. I won't spill the beans on the details of her emotional issue with yo-yo dieting but it was good read overall simple book. A + Would only recommend to those people who is "actually trying to lost weight" to read the book not those who think it autobiography it not.

I starting working out since July 2010 I have janet photo on my wall!!! Let me tell you working out is far from easy. I have lost more weight by working out less and I also have GI disorder it was quite embarrasing for me.It very comforting to know a women like Janet has the same issues as me. I also suffering from depression and self loathing I turn to Jesus as well and this did help me a great deal! It shows Janet is actual human being and if I ever get to met her I wouldn't scream at her like a "unreachable celebrity" but a person that has feeling. She also give you the encouragement to stay discipline on facing your weight, depression and just simply loving yourself!!

I would love it janet create a website that stem from this book about depression, weight and loving yourself as "Forum based website" where people and fan all over the world can help each other with these same issues.

Yes I'm a Janet Jackson fan, and I was waiting patiently for this book to come out. I watched her talk about this book for over a year, and after much delays it was finally released. In my honest opinion, she didn't disappoint with this book. She mentioned that the book would be a series of anecdotes that she hoped would allow young people, women, and even men, like myself, to relate to and somehow see that in order for someone to be happy they need to look at themselves, analyze the root causes of their insecurities, and accept and love themselves just the way they are. Janet did just that. I'm a work in progress, and after reading this book I've become more self aware of my own insecurities and how to deal with them. The book is easy reading and her stories of her youth allow readers to somehow relate to her as a normal person. Readers find out that she's sensitive and can be vulnerable at times, a regular human being, ultimately she's relatable. A great book overall.

Confession: I LOVE JANET JACKSON! I was excited to hear she was writing a book- it was a definite must read on my book list - but even more excited when I learned the book would be more of self-help autobiographical book. Reading Janet's chronicle of her struggles with weight, family, emotional highs and lows, and learning to love herself was so inspirational. True You brings to light feelings many of us experience from time to time and reminds us of the lingering of childhood hurts and pains that can only be conquered when we meet them head on. Janet finally faces those hurts and pains head on and with a vigor that is sure to inspire us all.

True You contains pics of Janet and her family giving us insight to this fabulous woman at various stages of her life from early childhood to the dynamic, multi-talented woman she has become. Plus the book features some fab recipes. Ooh la la. I highly recommend this book and the Cauliflower Popcorn recipe!

I've been a long-time Janet Jackson fan ever since Control came out. I looked up to her as a little girl and love her music and have seen most of her movies. Until I read this book, I didn't know too much about her personal life. Janet Jackson is an engaging writer and it felt very conversational and easy to see and feel what she was describing. Some of my favorite parts of the books is the sections where she talks about her family, childhood, and letters that she gets from fans. She seems very down-to-earth. Many women can relate to this book as she tackles weight and self-esteem issues. I was really surprised to find out that she had a negative image of herself though. That was shocking considering every friend and peer (myself included) strived to get into similar shape as her. That's what made her so real and down-to earth. She has the same issues that many women face and listening to her stories was uplifting and inspirational.

I read this book cover to cover in one day! It really helped me with self reflection with my own struggles with self-esteem and body image. Growing I had very low self-esteem and I always felt like I was the only one. It's nice to know that it was just me. Nice to know that someone as successful, beautiful, and talented as Janet Jackson dealt with and deals with the same issues as I do. I was a die-hard Janet Jackson fan before I read this book, and now I couldn't believe there was room for more fan growth. Thank you Janet! I really appreciate everything you do.

The gook was a very deep and a excellent read. I think alot of people can relate to what Janet Jackson has to say and what she went through. You dont have to be famous or grow up in a famous household to understand what its like to have low self esteem.. Its in everyone. I am glad she shared her stories, mybe people will get a better understand of her and stop making up stories of her. I suggest get the book read it and read it good, read it twice if you have to. you will enjoy it.

I am so glad Janet wrote this book. It is a great book to help women and men everywhere whether they're battling weight issues, self-esteem issues, self-worth, depression, etc. It comes just how it is advertised in the picture...a nice book cover with her beautiful portrait on the front. A surprisingly thick book 259 pages long contains color pictures of childhood and adulthood, and the words are printed on a white, rip-free paper. You will not be sorry for buying this book.

I never had weight problems but I did have self-esteem issues about other things when I was growing up. I can relate to Janet about having a big booty. I was born with one but it's a blessing to me!But yes, I have a brother,too..(ironically his name is Mike, too) that teased me about it throughout my childhood along with boys at school..but as I got older, I, myself, made ME feel good about ME! I did not wait on others to tell me how to look or how to feel, I found those feelings for myself. It took me several years but I finally found what I was looking for! It's true that you can have the looks, the glamour and everything else looking good on the outside but the inside can be screaming out for help! Thank you, Sista Janet, for your words and sharing the recipes that helped you...and we miss Mike, too. The world mourned along with you and your Family. God Bless You!!

I just read this book last night and I have to say that is was a really good book. I can see where a lot of young girls would benefit from this type of book. I applaud Janet for being very open and candid about her body image, self esteem and relationships. I think that this is a book that gives us a glimpse into the world of Janet and how she processed being from a famous family, growing up in front of cameras and how she viewed herself. Good job Janet!!!
