This is a great sharpener for rotary blades.
Crafty Cougar
The "newly sharpened blades" skipped over fabric, did not cut cleanly, and would only cut when I applied a lot of pressure.
MomToBostonTerriers
I liked the sharpener because I can now keep using the blades I have and don't need to buy new ones.

New rotary cutter blades are incredibly sharp; unfortunately that sharpness does not last long. Within two or three hours of use, my blades show clear signs that the edge is dulling. I suppose the cost of good metal is high (if the price of good kitchen knives is any sign) and the metal in these rotary cutters have a short "ultra sharpness" life. I've tried several hand sharpeners; the instructions say twist the blade in them two or three times--won't help at all. Try 50 or 75 times and you'll see a difference in both the blade and your wrist.

Enter the TrueSharp. First of all, this thing is loud, really loud. Think bench saw loud. Ear protectors were welcome. Does it sharpen. You bet! The instructions say one cannot achieve factory sharpness. True, but it's pretty close. Takes a couple of minutes, spares your wrist and you have a good, working blade for another two or three hours of use.

Is it worth the cost? Depends. At about $5 a pop for one 45 mm blade, you could buy 10 new blades for the cost of this baby. When I'm doing a lot of sewing, I'll change a blade every 2/3 days. A month of blades will easily buy the sharpener for me. I haven't used the sharpener long enough to know how well it will last or continue sharpening. But at this stage, it's a real winner. Only four stars though till they quiet this thing down. guy

I do not recommend this product. I went through the sharpening process on four 45 mm blades and two 60 mm blades following instructions exactly and I did not get one sharp blade. Here is the process. Oil the sharpening stones before using the sharpener by placing drops of oil on each one until they no longer absorb oil. Lay the dull blade inside the sharpener and close the lid holding it down with one hand. Activate the motor by holding the power button down with the other hand. This engages a screaming motor. Do NOT relax your hand holding the lid before releasing the power button. I tried sharpening two different blades by using only the fine stones since they came already installed in the sharpener. The result was dull blades. I decided to try again using different dull blades using both the coarse and fine stones. The instructions say to run the sharpener 30 seconds, remove blade, re-oil stones, flip and replace blade and run for 30 seconds more. Repeat up to 4 times. After using the coarse stones, change to fine stones and repeat. There was evidence on the edge of the blades that the stones were making contact but none of the blades would cut fabric after all that effort. The blades I tried to sharpen were not nicked or damaged in any way, they were just dull. This product was about $45.00 with free shipping from Amazon.

I like this product. After following the directions for oiling the sharpening stones, I found the unit to work very well, sharpening the blade to my satisfaction. I didn't notice that the noise was extremely loud. The machine is sharpening metal so some noise should be expected. There are 2 types of sharpening stones. The ones loaded into the unit are the fine. The coarse stones are found in the box. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend to any quilter.

I received the sharpener for Christmas. My son also went to Harbor Freight and bought me 20 carpet blades that are the same size as my quilting blades. He paid $1 a blade. The catch is that they sometimes have little burrs or are not as sharp as regular quilting blades. So we tried them out in the sharpener. It did an amazing job with them. Before using the blades we simply ran the blades through 30 seconds 4 times and were surprised how successful that was. My sharpener will pay for itself very quickly. I am very pleased. (yes it is very noisy!)

The unit is self explanitory at least to a woodworker who sharpens tools all the time. I have sharpened one blade that was not cutting cleanly. I then went through 10 layers of cloth easily. Based on this one time sucess I recommend this unit. Resharpen 5 - 7 blades and it has paid for itself.

Just received my TruCut Rotary Blade Sharpener this afternoon. Immediately, I had to see how well it worked! Blades are not cheap and don't last when you're cutting quilts out and fabric all the time as I do, I just had to purchase this product. Let me tell you, just as Eleanor Burns said on her TV Show, 'Quilt In A Day' while actually demonstrating this sharpener, it works GREAT! I'm going to tell my friends and endorse this purchase. It works and will save me money in the long run. Thanks Amazon.com for selling this product so reasonably. It will pay it sell off in no time with the blade savings!
Excellent product!

This blade sharpener sharpens all sizes of blades and make them sharp as new and free from cutting your fingers up. It is very fast job and it is not a bad price. It's a great little machine for anybody does quilting!

I've tried other sharpeners with limited success - this one is great. It's like almost getting a new blade again - what a money saver given the price of blades. Easy to use and store when not in use. I've already recommended to many of my fellow quilters. Thanks for a grret product.
