These are undoubtedly some of the greatest recordings of Telemann! Mr. Andre plays with such finesse and he has such great command over the instrument! It is impossible not to fall in love with his sound! Anybody who loves to listen to the trumpet needs this CD! WONDERFUL!

Again, Mr. Andre plays old trumpet favorites with an angelic quality. Recording and balance are very well done.

Marice Andre shows how to play Telemann. His playing is marvelous and angelic. Great album and a very strong recommendation to the baroque music lover.

Overall, a fine collection. The only disappointment is the Concert Sonata in D Major, performed by Maurice Andre' with the Vienna Soloists. I first heard it performed in 1971 by Adolf Scherbaum and the Hamburg Baroque Ensemble on a Deutsche Grammaphon LP titled "Baroque Music for Trumpet Virtuoso". Scherbaum's Concert Sonata is a stately, inspiring, and almost exalted work. (I've tried to find this album on CD. As far as I can tell, DG has carried over three of the pieces to CD; regretably, Telemann's work is not among them.) After hearing Scherbaum, the Andre' rendition is simply no substitute. The first movement is just too slow. The third movement is WAY too fast, and is cheapened by displays of trumpet "pyrotechnics" that strike me as out of place in a piece of Baroque music.

That said, the rest of the album is marvelous, another fine example both of Maurice Andre's virtuosity and the beauty of Telemann's music.

I just happened upon this CD, and am completely captivated. The concertos are fabulous, and Andre's performance is stellar - crisp and sparkling. I keep listening to track #16 over and over. Can't recommend this highly enough.
