This is a Trumpeter 1/32 scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe ("Swallow"), a World War II era twin-engine jet fighter aircraft of the German Luftwaffe, and the first operational jet fighter of the world. Model kit features: Recessed panel lines, highly detailed cockpit, engines and gun bay, clear fuselage, optional clear engine nacelles and separately molded control surfaces and flaps. Also includes drop tanks, RATOG, metal landing gear struts, vinyl tires, photo-etch parts (seatbelts and harnesses), film instruments and 3-piece canopy. Decals and color painting guide for 2 aircraft: WNr 110559, 'Red 13' and WNr110998, 'White 17' - Includes stencils. "Figures and ground accessories not included". The kit consists of 321 parts in grey plastic with an additional 4 rubber tires, 12 clear plastic parts for canopy 4 metal for undercarriage struts. ABOUT THE ME 262: Fitted with two Jumo 004 turbojet engine, the Me 262 was capable of speeds exceeding 500mph, making the venerable German jet a nearly impossible target for Allied fighter-aircrafts of the era. Even with its amazing speed, the Me 262 had negligible impact on the course of World War II due to its late introduction and the inability of the Germans to mass produce the aircraft. By the end of World War II, the Me 262 of all variants claimed only 509 Allied aircrafts destroyed while losing more than 100 aircrafts during combat operations.
