5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!
I have been a huge fan of the Brand New Heavies for a long time, so when I discovered they had released this CD, I was in heaven!!! I love absolutely everything about this CD. They included all of my favorites as well as some new songs that I had never heard before. With their interesting mix of R&B, funk, and soul, this band really knows what it takes to make good music...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Trunk Full Of Funk
I didn't really know what to expect from this C.D. I had known of the Brand New Heavies for years. They're a band local to me (Ealing), and one which is consistently played on the dancefloor, but of you had asked me to name some of their hits, I would only have been able to come up with 'You've Got A Friend'. Having listened to this a few times, I can only say that I can...

I have been a huge fan of the Brand New Heavies for a long time, so when I discovered they had released this CD, I was in heaven!!! I love absolutely everything about this CD. They included all of my favorites as well as some new songs that I had never heard before. With their interesting mix of R&B, funk, and soul, this band really knows what it takes to make good music. N'dea Davenport's voice still blows me away.

This is the perfect CD for any Brand New Heavies fan, and I would also suggest it to people not familiar with the band. You will not be disappointed at all! This is the type of music that definitely has longevity!!!

This is a great album for longterm fans and new ones: For the old fans, the first track is enough, the Heavies reunite with N'Dea for "Finish what you started" You'll love it, super funky! And it has all the old hits and some fun remixes. Everyone needs this in there collecton, if you miss 70s funk and R&B.

The Brand New Heavies short lived music career hit all the perfect notes.

This CD revolves the dreaded 'Best Of...' syndrome into a really nice listening experience. A nice mix of their best and some odd ball songs into a good interpretation of the Brand New Heavies changes in singers and styles. I recommend this to everyone who's heard of this abstract band.

Your friends will be asking you to borrow this CD once they hear it. I'm living proof!

4.0 out of 5 stars British Soul, October 22, 2007
This review is from: Trunk Funk Classics: 1991-2000 (Audio CD)
When it came to the music scene in the 90's, there was more of a mix of rap & hip hop in America, where there was little to no soul. But, where England was developing into soul, they were much more on top of the scene, especially with the mixes of electronica, soul, and the birth of acid jazz. That helped the careers of acts like Soul II Soul, and great organic groups like The Brand New Heavies. Although they've been considered one hit wonders here in America, the group blended a unique mix of funk, R&B & soul within each of their songs, and that could be said well with this hits albums during their hay day in the U.K.

The Brand New Heavies Trunk Funk Classics 1991-2000, blends the best of the U.K. guilty pleasure that they brought to so many when it came to R&B and acid jazz furing the 90's. The single disc collection includes 15 great tracks, that delight so many listners young & old. As a greatest hits album, the songs blend a mix of instrumental and contemporary pop, where the songs have also shown as they were remastered well. The collection includes a lot of great tracks including classics like the breakout U.S. hits Brother Sister and Dream On Dreamer, as well as surprising delights like Soul Flower & Finish What You Started, as well as the upbeat Never Stop. The instrumental tracks like Have A Good Time and Put The Funk Back In It add the escapism to true soul well in distinction on this album.

While The Brand New Heavies have been so successful overseas, it is sometimes so easy to forget what true distinctive soul is like, especially when it comes to manufactured acts like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez who haven't got the feeling of soul in them. Trunk Funk Classics: 1991-2000 works great for parties and for anyone who loves the feeling of good, old fashion soul. I really love those songs, and it works as a great addition to your album collection.

This band is amazin and it is a shame that their music was not heard as much as it should have been. Buying this collection will bring you total joy and happiness. Seriously, it will and don't laugh either. This is by far the best R&B dance band around. Play this at parties or by yourself. People will be impressed and it will only improve your image. Seriously though, this is a fine collection that represents a fabulous dance band.

When I first heard this album I was completely amazed. Its a perfect album for listening in the car driving at the A4 during the night(The Hague-Amsterdam) at 220 KM/H. There's only on bad song at the album and you may discover which one.

I didn't really know what to expect from this C.D. I had known of the Brand New Heavies for years. They're a band local to me (Ealing), and one which is consistently played on the dancefloor, but of you had asked me to name some of their hits, I would only have been able to come up with 'You've Got A Friend'. Having listened to this a few times, I can only say that I can still only name one of their hits (which features Seidah Garrett on vocals), but I am nevertheless better informed. There's nothing outstanding here, except perhaps the band's performances. They have proved themselves adept at picking vocalists and consolidated their talent over the years by shrewd choices of musicians and producers. However what they really need is a strong songwriter, once they get that right, all their songs will be as memorable as their hit.

sadly this is the band that got sleeped on the most over the past decade.there grooves were slamming.i always got excited at each new album they came out with.there music has so much Life&Joy.they were about real instrumentation.it's an Injustice that Groups like them&Fishbone continue to be ignored.when you hear real music with a Human feel it just does something for your Soul&Mind.that's what there music means to me.full of Life unlike the dead weight in most music today.check this out.
