I was looking for a small sledge to use to pound large stakes into the ground. I didn't know exactly what size I needed but liked that I could use this one handed. I was a little worried it wouldn't be big enough for this task.

Worries were averted though as this more than did the job. In fact, the first post I pounded in I actually shattered from about the top down about 8 inches. Very impressive.

The handle is nice and light and very similar to my Truper pick axe which I've been very happy with. It seems to be strong and will hopefully hold up well over time for tasks demanding more than the normal 16 oz. hammer.

If all you use this hammer for is driving wood stakes, then it will serve you well. The quality is extremely poor. The hickory handle had dark streaks which indicates it will fracture easier than a solid light color hickory handle. This hammer dented the face when I struck a piece of cold rolled steel. I do not recommend this hammer.

Just plain high quality. Strong and durable. Will probably outlast me and the work I do. Lots of broken wooden handles in my past.

This hammer is great for projects that need a little more umphh than a typical claw hammer. While it provides a bit more horsepower when pounding it is not so heavy to make it unwieldy. I am impressed with it and, if ever I need another two pound hammer I would not hesitate to purchase this one again.

I've used short-handled Estwing hammers for my entire career but wanted a longer handle for more swing-speed. I didn't shop around at all but this hammer seems well-built and the grip is nice and sticky.

Love this hammer. WIth an old hatchet, I use this hammer for splitting kindling and log section quarters for starting the coal stove, work on the truck and the wifes car, in the shop, and general work around the house where a medium or big sledge is just to heavy and cumbersome, and where a regular hammer is to light.
