This is a very well built and sturdy shovel.

The ones with the metal strip get caught on sidewalk cracks all of the time and these Truper shovels do not.

These shovels are made of good quality and much better than the plastic shovels found in the local stores!!!

Works like a champ. Record snow year here in Indiana and I've used in a half dozen times already. Nice and light weight due to the aluminum construction and so far very sturdy. Extra long reach too. No ice dams yet. Highly recommend.

Winter of 13/14 in West Michigan has been pretty brutal. I've gone through two shovels already that I had picked up at the local supermarket. I was looking for something heavy duty that you can put a kick into and break up some ice and packed snow. This is without a doubt that shovel.

The blade is all steel, one piece, with no flimsy protector strip that will break off from the first ice build up. The handle stem is all steel and is riveted to the back of the steel blade with a large steel plate. The handle grip is a solid plastic and large enough to use with two hands behind it to push snow. Due to the material, this shovel is heavy in comparison to poly or aluminum shovels.

I have no doubt that this shovel will make it through the next 30 winters, and at around $20 it's cheaper than most wood/plastic shovels. The only thing I would ask for differently is maybe a little more curvature to the blade. The straightness of it does incredibly well to break underneath packed snow and ice, but it leaves the scooping of regular snow a bit less effective, especially with windy conditions.

Maybe I am being too harsh.
This one is extremely heavy duty comparing to other shovels made of aluminum or plastic. It cuts through semi-frozen snow with ease!
It is nice to feel a heavy and capable shovel in hand! (if you are not strong, the weight can actually become a minus)
I think you can even use this as an ice chopper, but I would not recommend it :)

My two gripes:

1) Since the handle is steel, the balance seems off. Maybe this will require getting used to.
2) The blue plastic tube on the shaft is way too high for my preferences. The positioning is proper for a snow pusher, but this shovel does not push snow. It is for throwing snow. I usually grab the shovel almost at the bottom of the shaft, so it is easier to lift and throw a shovel-full of packed heavy snow. So with this one, I am grabbing the bare shaft with no sleeve (hope no pervs are reading this). Even with thick gloves on, and alternating hands, after 20-30 minutes of shoveling in cold or very cold temps, your hands will become freezing, because you hold ice cold steel.

Otherwise, an excellent shovel.

This is a serious shovel. Steel blade, steel handle, plastic grip (bummer). I was striking out everywhere I went locally looking for a shovel that didn't feel like a flimsy piece of plastic/aluminum junk. You have found your shovel if you are like me. I subtract it 1 star because the balance feels just a little off and I suspect the rivet quality may limit this to a couple decades rather than a couple generations. It is hard to describe the balance issue in words but it would not prevent me from buying another given the alternatives. However it is not for everybody- my wife, who is probably stronger than me wants nothing to do with it because of the weight. To each their own but i'm glad someone is still making a shovel that feels like it'll last more than a season or 2.

This is the first time I ever used a Ergonomic shovel and after 45 minutes of shoveling no aches or pains in my back or body. I was going to purchase a regular shovel but after watching someone on the news using one of these with ease, I decided to give it a try.I waited until after the snow fell in Virginia to purchase this shovel but with prime one day shipping it arrived the next day safely wrapped in bubble wrap, and the price is great considering the steel construction and Non-Stick Thermoplastic blade with metal wear strip.

We have been trying for quite sometime to find a shovel that was sturdy and would get down to the sidewalk and driveway, so many of the new shovels are light weight and don't clear the snow completly. We are not disappointed. It is on the heavy side but I knew that when I ordered it. It came within a couple of days, no assembly required. Got to try it out the same day we got it, really ppy we made the purchase. The only thing that would have made this better is if they would have put the coating on the handle a bit lower towards the shovel. With the handle being the length it is it is a bit difficult to lift if my hand is that far back.

This is a very well built and sturdy shovel. The handle is both long and very heavy duty wooden made. I thought when it first came I would have like to have seen a little more curvature on the metal blade but it worked very well just as is. It both pushed the light fluffy snow and scrapped an inch of frozen sloppy stuff. The only draw back is it tends to tilt when lifting the heavy snow to throw. I would not hesitate to buy another one. Definetly worth the money.

When I say Heavy Duty, I mean HEAVY Duty. The shovel is all steel and it was exactly what I was looking for. Those aluminum ones just don't last. The blue "grip" in the middle of the shaft is only a plastic tube, while I thought is was foam for a better grip. All in all, a good shovel that I'm hoping will last a long time.
