5.0 out of 5 stars Warning: This review was written by a Craig David stan!
First let me say that I am a Craig David fan. You might even be able to say I'm a Stan for his music. I have been since the first time I heard 7 Days on Born To Do It. Because of my Stan status, you can rightfully assume that I am biased. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way; this is my very favorite Craig David album. If you listen to BTDI and then listen to...

2.0 out of 5 stars First poor album by Craig David
I have been a huge Craig David fan since Born to Do it, and I have loved all his CDs, but this album is by far his worst. His "hit" single is a terrible ripoff of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" and the other songs just don't go well. The only things I liked were: the chorus to "Awkward" and the chorus to "This is the Girl", however the rest of the song is terrible because...

I've been looking forward to this album for a while, but for the first time ever, Craig let me down.

After waiting so long for this album, I am very dissapointed! Craig David has once again taken another album into the pop direction. I really think he should stick with the ballads that we've all come to love him for. Sigh!

1.0 out of 5 stars :-( Disappointing, February 6, 2008
This review is from: Trust Me (Audio CD)
ok this was a complete disapointment and utter disaster!! Terrible. Ive been a HUGE fan of Craig since the beginning and I was really bummed after buying and listening to the CD. Rapping is not his forte, and there seemed to be more of that and less R&B. This is by far his worst album. There was one somewhat decent song- Officially Yours. And decent is relative considering the other songs sucked. His previous albums were by far better. He just cant seem to top the 1st and 3rd albums.

For any new albums, I will preview and read reviews before i buy.

Craig PLEASE , Im on my knees beggin- go back to what you do best. R&B, Rap is not you. *Sigh*

2.0 out of 5 stars Wow...not too good, July 15, 2008

I really wanted to love this album. I love every CD that Craig David has made. "Trust Me", however, is the exception. Craig David's music is usually very melodic..the perfect mix of R&B and pop. He really missed the mark this time around. Don't get me wrong, every song isn't horrible. But most songs lack melodic appeal. They are nondescript and not memorable. The only ray of sunlight on this whole album is "Officially Yours", which seems closest to what Craig David has done in the past. I understand that artists should grow and change from album to album, but the change should be an improvement. Hopefully, he'll do better next time. I'm a disappointed fan for the first time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak., June 19, 2008
This review is from: Trust Me (Audio CD)
What happened to the effortless flow and smooth beats of CD's first two albums? He seems to be forcing the energy in this album. It isn't working. And the single has a sample that's been used over and over again in the last ten years. How about some originality or at least an original sample. Weak.

If you listen to BTDI and then listen to this one, you can see just how much he has matured as a singer. He has always had one of the best voices around (remember, I'm a Stan) but I think he truly shines when he's taking chances and singing music that you would never expect him to sing. Now don't get me wrong, Top of the Hill, is the worst song I have heard from him ever. It's one of the worst songs I have ever heard period. Yet, the album shines with every other track. Unbelievable and Awkward are stand-outs for me. I have heard people say that they like BTDI, but that he changed his style on subsequent albums, and they just don't like his music anymore. That is very understandable becuase his music has matured since 2001. IMHO, if you like good music, pick this one up. You can get it used for $2.47 which would be a steal even if it was a Taylor Hicks album (well, maybe I shouldn't push it that far).

Craig David need's to lose the rap/hip-hop element and stick to what made him a great artist in the first place. A great voice, great looks, and very personable. Don't be a trend follower, be a trend setter.

How the hell are you going to ask me to trust you and then come out with this? Can you fill me in on where your career went? I use to do chicks to Born to Do it. I wouldn't admit to chicks that I own this CD. Craig, you owe me one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different Flava, December 5, 2007

But still Craig David manages to incorporate that into "Trust Me" and while it has a different sound than some folks might be used to. Even me..by the time i was done listening to trust me. I got a cool laid back vibe from the cd and i know with more listens i feel even more what he's bringing across on the cd. Overall though i have to give him props for doing something a bit out of the norm.

There are more ballads "Awkward", "Officially Yours", "Just A Reminder" and "Top of the Hill". Along with the mid-up tempo songs like "Hot Stuff (Lets Dance), "Friday Night", "6 of 1 Thing", "She's On Fire" (one of my fav Craig comes with rapid fire singing flow that's crazy). While not his best cd "Trust Me" is still more of a step up than a good portion of other cds that are out now.

Bravo 2 ya, Craig...likin this and the future for ya as well. God bless!!

4/5 overall.

The songs are 'ok' at best. I feel that this CD pales in comparison to his previous ones. There are 1-2 songs that are good, but the rest are all slow and somewhat boring...
