Book Description

Mia longs for the daily torture to end, but one last task keeps her holding on. In a betrayal of the crime lord who pulled her from the gutter, she'll free the shipment of human cargo, and if she's lucky, die in the process. The alternative is unfathomable, even to a woman well-versed in erotic torture. But luck abandons her yet again when she meets the security expert in charge of the shipment and finds herself face to face with her childhood crush. The man she once begged for help. The man who failed her.

Tyler Martinez is an undercover FBI agent with one chance to right the wrongs of his past. Thrust deep into the seedy world of human trafficking, he must put aside his guilt over abandoning Mia all those years ago in order to save her now.

Someone's pulling the strings in this sadistic play on trust, but Tyler and Mia may not live long enough to see the curtain fall. Trust in Me is a story of erotic pain and incipient romance, spiraling ever faster toward betrayal or redemption.

WARNING:
This book contains explicit scenes of dubious consent, graphic violence and sex. It also depicts abuse and captivity situations. Not appropriate for anyone uncomfortable with these situations or anyone under the age of eighteen. This is a work of fiction.

4.0 out of 5 stars from little girl lost to a woman found February 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This dark erotic fiction is the story of a woman completely at the mercy and the whims of the men around her. Every aspect of Mia's life is controlled and dominated by fear, violence and pain, and she has learned to accept the pain and the abuse, adapting to an imposed life of sexual servitude. She has been trained to take it: "I craved the release of death, but I was too well trained to earn it." Even as damaged and beaten as she is, Mia isn't broken, yet, and she holds on to life only because she feels there is something she must do, something bigger and better than who and what she is.

This story is told in first-person from Mia's POV, and it reads as personal, raw and even heart-breaking. There are a lot of gripping scenes in this story, disturbing scenes such as forced oral, coercion and rape, torture, and humiliation (even a scene with urine), but most disturbing of all was the idea of this young woman's childhood. She was sexualized at a much too innocent and early age. From this abuse, Mia's life became a series of lonely, painful and twisted actions, one compounded by the other and none really at her instigation.

Darkly erotic and gritty, this story touches every shadowed place in a character's mind, every rough desire and every twisted part of a soul, but it also delivers touches of softness and sympathy. And at the end, there is even a feeling of redemption, that very idea of being more than a label, of being more than your past. The pay-off arrives, after all the suffering, and the reader feels as if she, too, has survived along with Mia, finding solace at long last. It takes a certain amount of skill on the author's part to deliver the reader through so much darkness and pain and into the arms of a tender resolution.

This novella is around 105 kindle pages/1600 locations and is book 2 in the Erotic Nonconsent series (book 1 is Keep Me Safe (Erotic Nonconsent)). I recommend both these stories if you're the type of reader who likes a rough and uneasy ride to love. These stories aren't safe or sane, and definitely not consensual all the way. This author gives you a hard, raw and emotional read that maybe leaves you feeling a little bruised afterwards, but in a good way.

4.0 out of 5 stars ;0) February 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
BRIEF SUMMARY

Mia as found herself indebted to crime boss, Carlos, as he provided food, shelter and clothing to her when he found her on the streets. Mia's relationship with Carlos soon turns to one of ownership that leads to torment, torture and violence. When Tyler comes in as one of Carlos connections, Mia recognizes him as her childhood crush and is confused by his presence. But as motives are revealed, this could become dangerous.

THOUGHTS

This is not your typical love story, but a story and a journey of a woman whose never known love. Skye Warren's dark erotica tale, it goes there, and pushes the reader in to a world that may not be for some readers, but strokes the curiosity of others as well.

In Trust in Me, the story is told from Mia's POV throughout the story. Mia's ownership to crime boss, Carlos, has been nothing but torture, torment, suffering and pain, physically and mentally. His treatment of her may disturb some readers as the author forewarns at the beginning of the book. Her job is to be seen and not be heard as this sadist crime boss gets his pleasure from other's pain and suffering. With Mia's childhood and where she is currently, she has learned to adapt to her surroundings, so for me it is understandable why she views herself the way she did throughout the story.

When she sees one of Carlos's connections, Tyler, she immediately recognizes him as the boy next door that she has always had a crush on. Tyler's moments with Mia while they where around Carlos were a bit questionable at times but also interesting, as what Mia thought Tyler to be may be dangerous for them both. However, as the story continues with a demented beginning, a twisted middle, and an interesting climax, as the plot unfolds. The plot is interesting as every as some ulterior motive surrounding Carlos and his human trafficking. But through all this, Mia found her version of a warm ending.

As the other characters within the book came in to play, to my understanding one of the characters, Zachary is from the previous book, Keep Me Safe (Erotic Nonconsent), which also seems interesting. As for Trunk's character, I still have a few questions about him. With my personal opinions in regards to this book, it was very telling and interesting. The only thing for me, in certain key areas, I would have really wanted to know Tyler's thoughts and what he was thinking in certain moments.

I definitely will be reading more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A psychological release April 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Review posted on vkwickedreads.wordpress.com

WOW! I'm not sure how to review this book.

Disclaimer:This book is NOT traditional erotica. It is a non-consensual storyline that includes force, violence, brutality, humiliation. In other words if you are looking for steamy lust scenes with hot leading men, this isn't it. I, however- enjoy isn't the correct word- crave this sort of story. For me dark erotica holds a very small niche in the erotica genre. When written well it is extremely psychological and fulfills certain needs for the reader. I liken it to a cutter using a razor blade to have a visual release of the pain that is held within their soul. I am able to relate to the characters and find my own release through their struggles and pain. If you aren't sure what I am saying than this probably isn't the type of book you NEED to read. With all that saying, the storyline was superb. In other words, if the brutal premise of the book doesn't upset you then you will undoubtedly enjoy the exciting storyline, back story, and heartbreaking bond.

I was captured from the very first sentence, drawn into the story as if watching it play out in my own mind. The story pacing and flow of information were flawless. The characters were obviously flawed, yet undeniably realistic. No matter how brutal the story it ended with a HEA and a feeling of hope. No matter how you are victimized, as long as you don't break, you will never be a victim. Even after experiencing this painful journey, I finished with a smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

I definitely plan on reading more from this author in the near future, or simply when my craving returns and I am in need of release.
