5.0 out of 5 stars Action & Steamy Passion!, July 22, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Dominic Steele works with his brothers in their security company, Steele Security. His current job has him traveling to the Caribbean to a small island called San Timoteo to save a woman locked in a prison there. This mission is basically routine for him, except for the fact that the woman he is hired to extricate is an old lover. Lilah Cantrell broke his heart ten years ago.

Lilah has not seen Dominic in ten years so watching him being dragged into the cell adjoining hers is a shock. She realizes that Dominic has come to save her, which is a huge relief. She can't deny that she is still attracted to him but she doesn't want him to know. Dominic is having the same reaction. His traitorous desire for Lilah can't get in the way of his mission though. His intention is to get her out and then to get away from her.

Dominic always thought of Lilah as a snob but she is quickly proving him wrong. She is capable and tough. Lilah realizes after spending just a few minutes with Dominic that she never really got over him. Being thrust in a dangerous situation has them depending on each other and that closeness brings forth their true feelings.

Between getting themselves to safety and sorting out their feelings for each other, Dominic and Lilah are kept very busy. Dominic still plans to leave Lilah behind when and if they are out of danger, but Lilah has other plans. She has no intention of repeating the mistakes she made in the past and if they can get to safety, she plans to convince Dominic of the same.

Trust Me is a terrific romance! Dominic's searing masculinity and handsome good looks make it impossible not to want him. Lilah is courageous and beautiful. I love stories about rekindled love. Trust Me combines action, steamy passion and tender romance to create a story that captivated me. I really enjoyed it, and I am equally as excited to read more in the Men Of Steele series!

5.0 out of 5 stars adventure romance at it's best!, February 23, 2006
I've read Caroline Cross for years, and can say without a doubt that Trust Me is one of her strongest stories. Cross has a flair for writing adventure (and for getting her research right!). Most importantly, she writes women like we really are - strong, complicated and the tiniest bit vulnerable. As I read this book, I truly felt like I was in the jungle with Dominic and Lilah; I fell in love with both of them and I was left desperate for more when the book ended. (Whoever is limiting Cross to 200 pages is doing us all a disservice!) This is a wonderful story and an absolute blast to read - you'll love every minute of the adventure!

4.0 out of 5 stars MR. AWESOME, June 5, 2010

TRUST ME will appeal to those looking for a shot of pure romantic junk food to the brain, which lets face it we all crave from time to time. This quick, uncomplicated romantic-suspense is at times clichéd to the point of eye rolling, with descriptions of butterfly soft kisses, manly chests, tight abs, and hot sweaty jungle sex. However there's plenty of action to keep things moving along and a reunion romance to deal with (complete with flashbacks to our couple's unrequited young love.) As well as every daring rescue scenario you could possibly think of. All of which are performed flawlessly by dark, dangerous and impossible to resist ex-US Navy Seal turned bodyguard for hire and incredibly handsome perfect man with a super cool name, Dominic Steele. Awesome!

Dominic Steele's latest mission is pretty routine, (for someone as awesome as himself) He's been hired to extricate a woman wrongly accused and locked up in a third world prison using any means necessary. Just another day on the job until he sets his sights on who the beautiful woman in the cell is. The fates are cruel indeed because the imprisoned woman is none other than the very wealthy and spoiled Lilah Cantrell also known as heartbreaker or the one that got away and he's never quite been able to forget.

Lilah can't believe her eyes, she hasn't seen Dom in 10 years and now he's come to her rescue, what a friggin relief. All she has to do now is resist his smooth words, rippling muscles and those pesky re-emerging feelings of love long enough to; tunnel through the wall and escape from jail, jump off a cliff into the ocean, evade the bad guys and their dogs while traipsing through the jungle for days on end, survive drowning, engage in car chases, shootouts and a night in a seedy cantina hotel and then finally, escape the island using a stolen sea plane in a death defying, movie worthy take off (I actually quite liked this scene).

If our girl Lilah can achieve all this without getting so much as one bug bite and still manage to look alluringly fantastic (albeit artfully dishevelled )as well as getting Mr perfect to fall for her and proclaim that he needs her in his life forever. Then I must concede that she is equally as awesome as Dominic and that this couple is perfect for each other right down to the last sentence "And then he lowered his head and kissed her, and all was right in her world." *sigh* Awesome!

This book is part of the super fun Men of Steele series which means of course that theres more awesome men coming to the rescue. So turn your brain off, and enjoy the ride...

"She set about examining him. Careful to keep her touch as light as a kiss of sunlight."
