Book Description

This is not your typical New Adult Romance and weighs on a darker and more erotic side to the New Adult genre. This book is intended for Adults 18 and over due to graphic scenes involving sex, language, rape, violence, drinking and drugs Full length novel with an HEA ending.

Carrie Beckett knew fear. Pain, Anger, Terror…she also knew Trust.
After escaping a fate that is worse than death Carrie and Noah settle in Gig Harbor with the taste of freedom on the tip of their tongues. Years of abuse so severe, left them both wounded, careful but stronger than life gave them credit for. They knew to trust one another above all things, promising then and there they would never look back...
The summer before her final year at UW Carrie agrees to a date with her long time crush who happens to be her brother Noah’s best friend Chad Blake. The tattooed and sexy as sin front-man for rock band Thick as Thieves and the crowned King of Gig Harbor’s bad boys, Chad is a known for a good time, great music, killer tats and a sweet goodbye the morning after... as long as the girl knows the score. Everything he is, is everything Noah wants her far away from.
Chad has wanted his best friends sister since she was eighteen but stayed away after Noah warned him that Carrie was off limits. Having been burned in the past, Chad focused on his day job as a tattoo artist and his dream of making it big with his band Thick as Thieves; keeping his bed warm until he had the chance to get Carrie Beckett there and never let her leave.
Noah sheltered Carrie as best he could, keeping her as far from his personal life and Chad Blake as he could. He wanted nothing but happiness and freedom for the sister he watched suffer day in and day out.
But Carrie is innocent and smart, strong willed with a sassy mouth, all the things Chad loves about her and refuses to deny himself of anymore.
Risking it all on a whim, he shows up and asks Carrie to go “All In” and betray her brother for a chance to be together.
Carrie is brought into the world of parties, concerts, fangirls and sex- that force her to face the memories of her past in order to move on with Chad as her future.
Knowing that love is a reward, trust, a gift, Carrie and Chad fall with a passion so strong, it threatens to break them both. They will battle back all the bad things in life for just a second of good and all the insecurities will come to an explosive head that may just destroy them both

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed! August 18, 2013
By Lynn
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was on the fence if I should purchase this book but decided to give it a shot after reading the positive comments. I don't get it. The book could have been a solid and touching story. In fact, I started out really enjoying the characters but by 40% my care factor was gone. I never abandon a book but in this case it was all I could do to finish.

I completely agree with a previous post stating Carrie had the maturity of a 14 year old. I get the character had a rough childhood but she gave me whiplash with her emotions and in the end I really just wanted to shake her and tell her to seek professional help. She had ceased being a troubled girl I was cheering for and ended up being a sniveling child I no longer cared about.

The worst part of the book by far was the editing. I can usually overlook a few editing mistakes but this book reads like it was edited by a 1st grader. I understand many self published books have errors but there was something seriously wrong on almost every page - either missing words, lack of punctuation (serious lack of punctuation), the misuse of words and inconsistencies in the story line - the lack of editing was very distracting and was the final straw that killed this book for me.

I only paid $.99 for the book so I can't be too mad but would suggest passing on the book even at $.99. I think the really sad part is this is supposed to be a series but I can tell you the editing is so distracting I wouldn't purchase anything from this author again.

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG Melanie has done it again !!!! August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I received an ARC of 'Trust Me' in return for an honest review.

WOW Melanie has done it again....... Another amazing book!! Are you a fan of Abbie Glines style of writing? If so you'll LOVE Trust Me.

Trust Me comes with laughter & tears, heartbreak & happiness, but don't forget the all out raw, filthy mouth sexiness. Chad REALLY can turn a girl on with words alone, Phew... some of the things he says & does can really make a girl drop her panties!!

Melanie has captured my emotions with the first book in this series!!! She really grabbed hold of some unfortunately very real topics, from child abuse (in many forms) to cheaters only to come to the outcome that yes again ...LOVE does conquer all!! When you mix Chad the very experienced, filthy mouth "Bad Boy Rocker" with Carrie the very abused young woman you get one hell of an emotional explosion !!!

As with Melanie's other series, I am looking forward to the next book in the TAT Series !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutal and Beautiful August 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am sitting here with tears on my face and debating on where to start my review. I bought this book and the author, Melanie Walker, is new to me. I opened the book to read the beginning and my heart stopped. Anyone that advocates the prevention of child abuse and protection of those that need are help the most, speaks to the darkness in my heart. I was raised with and around foster children that had faced these demons. I faced them myself and like to think that I am a better person for walking through the darkness.
Carrie and Noah had grew up in H*ll. I have heard the nightmare stories and I know how evil some people can be and that these actions happen everyday. Noah fought the devil on a daily basis to protect Carrie and she was aware of the cost to both their souls. These two escaped and made a life for themselves. I loved that they knew that they had each other and that bond would never be broken. I can imagine the pain that Noah felt every time Carrie stepped into save him and the horror she endured so it wasn't worse.
Fast forward a few years and they are both on the cusp of new beginnings. I love ink. I have a few pieces that mean a lot to me and will continue to get more. They heal my soul and the pain releases the fear that I harbor on a daily basis. The fact that Noah is a tat master and plays in a band is hot. He is damaged and he knows it. Enter his best friend Chad. Lead singer and tattoo God makes this man sex on legs. He is f**kable and makes no bones about it. He has been in it for Carrie since she was 18 years old but Noah was bound and determined to keep her from the lifestyle of a rock band.
Carrie an Chad are combustible and the sparks fly. Love is not far around the corner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings...may contain slight spoilers August 10, 2013

Trust Me is a story about a girl that comes from a very abusive past and her brother's best friend. First of all, let me say that I absolutely loved the story line and the characters of Carrie and Chad. The simple fact that Carrie and her brother Noah made it out of their abusive situation as functional human beings with the capacity to love and have relationships is amazing. I also loved that Melanie Walker writes an introduction at the beginning of the book owning the fact that she is self-published and that this book is not professionally edited. I do not get all caught up in a few grammatical errors and can get past that to see the story underneath. However, I appeal to these friends and family members that are beta readers for self-published authors. The authors have read their own stuff a gazillion times, so they will not catch every mistake. It is your responsibility to help them out and catch the mistakes for them. There were so many mistakes of hear/here, their/they're, etc. as well as a few times "gravel" was used instead of "grovel". Strange as it may seem, I do not hold the author responsible since she has read it so many times she simply sees what she meant instead of what it says. I hold those beta readers responsible, you should look at these books with a magnifying glass. You are trying to help your friend/family member and it just makes them look bad. Ok, now I will get off my soap box and get on with my review. Again, I love the characters of Carrie and Chad. He is so sweet and romantic. I love the way they open up to each other and trust one another. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5? It's not the editing, because again I do not hold the author responsible. It is for the ending. More About the Author

My name is Melanie Walker and I have been having an affair with reading since I was nine. That is the only way to describe how passionate I am for reading. I started out writing poems and then short stories. Then it happened, I had always wanted to write a book, but foolishly thought I needed a degree and an agent and publisher to even see my book in print. My first book was a Novell titled Claimed. After I finished the novella I felt like I was on top of the world. I swore it was good and knew it would be published... not so much.

After spending some serious time on the internet and researching, I decided to give it a shot again. I had just finished the Twilight series and I was desperate for the next big vampire romance. I wrote Maks, anovel of The Crew. Another paranormal peice and I can honnestly say that it will forever be my baby.

My first published peice was Bliss and I didnt do the whole PR thing like I have with Awakened. I told my friends and let it get recognized by word of mouth. Now with Awakened on the rise and so far some seriously awesome reviews, I am taking the time to set up shop and stay for a while. I never knew that work could be so much fun, until the day I said screw it and went for my dreams. It has been a scary and amazing ride but I am glad I did it because there is NOTHING I want more!

I have two perfect children... Laughing out loud! One boy one girl and even a kitty named Izz. I am married to my own Prince Charming who, at times, is more like a demon too... We have been married for ten years this October and I am looking forward to the next fifty more or so.

I was born and raised in Utah but was lucky enough to live in Bellevue Washington for a few years. I waitressed at Red Robin and loved all the birds I worked with and miss it everyday. They are nothing but supportive and my biggest fans and they so deserve this shout out!

I hope the world will love my Princess's as much as me and see the story as clear as me through my own version. I wanted this book written for years and had the idea as a teen... It took me time to get there but I'll never regret a moment of writing their stories!

As for the rest of my characters, they are and will always be just as important and I hope I have done them all justice.
