About the Author

Linda Free-Gardiner CRPS, LCDC, CADAC, NCAC ll and MAC Linda Free-Gardiner has been in private practice in Houston, Texas for nine years. She specializes in relapse prevention. Her sense of humor and personal recovery experiences flavor her work and add a realistic dimension to her writing. She has presented hundreds of workshops on relapse prevention and recovery enhancement. She was one of the first Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors to respond to the need for relapse prevention. She earned certification as a Relapse Prevention Specialist and has made relapse prevention a large part of her life's mission. Linda helped set up and train therapists at the Betty Ford Center for their Intensive Outpatient Program for Relapse Prevention. They are using her Trust the Process book and workbooks. Linda has been clinical director of two intensive outpatient programs for chemical dependency treatment. She divides her time between writing, clinical hours, volunteer work for various addiction counselor organizations, and "having a life." In addition to this workbook, Linda has written many articles about recovery enhancement and relapse prevention. Her goal is that through this workbook she will reach thousands of therapists and individuals who will benefit from the techniques and the encouragement contained in its pages.

She has been in recovery for fifteen years.
