I think I've read just about every "How to" business book in America. Many of them are good, a few are great, but not one of them gives me the kind of priceless information that this book does.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well ... I'm Not So Sure
The author succeeds in describing how intuitive thought plays an important and valuable role in creativity, innovation and decision-making. She describes how it can be tapped and applied. She lobbies for greater use of this valuable human faculty. She rightly says that use of intuition helps to build the tool and confidence in its use. She provides "positive thinking"...

5.0 out of 5 stars Add this one to your must-have book list, November 13, 2006
This review is from: Trust Your Gut: How the Power of Intuition Can Grow Your Business (Hardcover)

I think I've read just about every "How to" business book in America. Many of them are good, a few are great, but not one of them gives me the kind of priceless information that this book does.

The author has been a speaker and "intuitive consultant" for about twenty years. She's written several books on how intuition can improve your life. This book is a bit of a departure, because it focuses on how everyone from solo-preneurs to CEOs can profitably use intuition in business.

Notice I said "How." There are some excellent books out there -- "Blink" for example -- that will tell you why intuition can be so helpful. But precious few, if any at all, teach you how to put it to actual use.

At first I was slightly put off by Robinson's non-business-book prose. But I was quickly won over by her engaging style and her command of the subject. She clearly knows what she's writing about. And by the time I finished the book -- filled with tips, techniques, anecdotes, quizzes and quotes -- I felt I'd been given a powerful competitive advantage in my particular marketplace.

She frequently alludes to intuition as being useful in life as well as in business. I can vouch for that because since reading the book, I'm using my intuition every day as I conduct the business of my life.

Bottom line: Add this extraordinary book to your must-read list.

P.S. Last night I read about a November '06 survey conducted by PR giant Burson-Marstellar. The headline? CEOs More Likely to Rely on Intuition Than Metrics When Making Business Decisions. Looks like Robinson may have intuited a trend. Or started one.

This review is from: Trust Your Gut: How the Power of Intuition Can Grow Your Business (Hardcover)
The book's tips, quizzes and anecdotes are neatly and attractively tied together by author Lynn Robinson, someone I've come to know through her several books as a leading proponent of using one's intuition to create a successful life. For people like me, that includes business, and after reading Trust Your Gut, I feel lucky that someone as wise and astute as Lynn took it upon herself to turn her focus to the subject of intuition in business. You can probably tell that I'm an unabashed fan of hers. But don't let that stop you from savoring this delightfully written, remarkably valuable book. Forgive me, but I have to say it - trust your gut and get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gut Never Lies, March 15, 2007
This review is from: Trust Your Gut: How the Power of Intuition Can Grow Your Business (Hardcover)
Lynn Robinson has a great book of material on how trusting your gut pays off. The gut never lies and should be believed first. What is great about Trust Your Gut are the case studies of businesspeople who were a success thanks to their gut instinct. Information beyond the linear world is often more accurate and not prone to bias. If you need help gaining confidence in your choices this is a book to read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, concrete techniques that produce measurable results, December 27, 2006

This review is from: Trust Your Gut: How the Power of Intuition Can Grow Your Business (Hardcover)
As a business consultant who works with leaders at all levels to improve leader effectiveness, impact, and fulfillment, I can attest to the value of the methods outlined in "Trust Your Gut." Throughout the book, the author sprinkles testimonials from corporate and small business leaders who actively use their intuition (helpful for those who want to use intuition and are afraid it's too "out there"). More importantly, the book is chock full of techniques to use intuition in a variety of settings, whether to make a simple decision, boost creativity, improve sales & increase customer base, make a great hiring decision, or change careers. The author's "concrete sequential" (left brain) description of how to use each technique is appealing to corporate types who like a step-by-step approach. The right brain application of these techniques appeals to creative professionals. The techniques are fun, plentiful, easy to apply, and no crystal ball is required! Bottom line: Plenty of useful ideas that produce measurable results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lynn Robinson Is Spot On!, May 28, 2010
I have been talking and teaching about intuition for several decades. I ordered this book as I like to see what others have found as they work with their intuitive nature. I highly recommend this book and I believe that Lynn Robinson is spot on with how to tap into that magnificent resource; your sixth sense!!!

The young "Millenniums" who will be the majority of our population in the next year, are showing us that the train is leaving the station! The entrepenuer is the "wave of the future" so taping into your intuitive nature is paramount to your success. Lynn has provided excellent tools and strategies to do just that!

You can use Lynn's book as a training manual day after day to train your brain, and learn how to trust your intuition. We have been socialized to think only analytically, rationally and intellectually but that really isn't how we make decisions. We make decisions emotionally, 100% of the time, and justify logically!!!!! The intuition stems from the emotional subconscious mind and Lynn has provided great information on how to stay centered so that you can really trust the information from your "gut!" Also, she has provided great stories proving that when individuals trust their intuition they can avoid a "trainwreck" and also be highly successful without having to go through the hit and miss process.

Thank you so much Lynn for your great research and work!

The author succeeds in describing how intuitive thought plays an important and valuable role in creativity, innovation and decision-making. She describes how it can be tapped and applied. She lobbies for greater use of this valuable human faculty. She rightly says that use of intuition helps to build the tool and confidence in its use. She provides "positive thinking" stories to encourage use of intuition even after it seems to fail.

Unfortunately, the book does not describe how and why intuition works. It does not provide a guide for when and where to expect intuition to be most useful or unreliable. It does not provide guidance as to how to complement intuition with analysis. It may be impossible to really analyze and structure intuition. As a natural structural decision-maker, I am no more likely to apply intuition than before reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your gut sense makes more cents, February 3, 2007
This review is from: Trust Your Gut: How the Power of Intuition Can Grow Your Business (Hardcover)
This is fabulous book on why trusting your gut can aid in your prosperity far more than an intellectual gameplan. The gut knows and Lynn Robinson provides an excellent guide on just why it works so well to trust it. There are examples of many business decisions that were stellar because someone trusted their gut. This is a must read for those who want to know when it is their gut sense talking rather than just their fear or wishful self. Another great read from Lynn Robinson.
