3.0 out of 5 stars Trusted Criminals
Textbook received quickly. It's a small book and print is easy to read. However, cover of book had a cut on it and looks like a box cutter was used to open a carton and sliced through the cover. This book was purchased new and cost over $60. Frustrating when you spend so much for a textbook and receive a damaged book. No time to send it back because summer classes...

As a college professor, and researcher/student of white collar crime, Friedrichs' Trusted Criminals is by far the best text available on the topic. His extensive coverage of the wide array of actions constituting white collar crime provides readers with a better understanding of this sometimes confusing topic. Also, his easy-to-follow writing style and excellent use of examples facilitate comprehension of the material. It is apparent that a great deal of effort went into writing this book.

I refer to this text as "My Bible," and use it as a starting point for any and all research endeavors involving white collar crime. I eagerly anticipate the second edition (sometime soon?).

5.0 out of 5 stars Any college-level library strong in criminology needs this, November 16, 2009
Now in a fully updated and expanded fourth edition, TRUSTED CRIMINALS: WHITE COLLAR CRIME IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY provides the latest noteworthy cases and developments in fraud in all kinds of industries, from sub-prime mortgage loans and illegal activity in pharmaceutical circles to insurance scams. It covers attempts to control these crimes, shifts in legal practice in prosecuting cases, and surveys changing regulations, initiatives against corporate crimes, and more. Any college-level library strong in criminology needs this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Former Friedrichs Student, December 3, 2003
As a graduate of The University of Scranton, with a B.S. in CJ, I had the honor of studying under the author of this text.

It is extremely comprehensive in covering white collar crime, an issue that other criminology/criminal justice texts simply fail to explore.

Perhaps readers of Gottfredson and Hirschi's "A General Theory of Crime" might find Friedrichs' exploration of positivist critical criminology particularly useful for explaining an area of crime that has been neglected because of "lack of research". 5 stars for this, looking forward to a new edition, and hopefully another text on WCC.
