5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Bryan E. Leed on December 29, 2005
Format: Hardcover
Tony Evans is an awesome radio preacher! His specialty is making Scriptural analogies based on everyday situations that anybody can immediately understand. He is also usually very humorous when he lays bare our human shortcomings and flawed logic. We laugh and learn from listening to his radio sermons.

GOD CAN NOT BE TRUSTED is a nice, little 90 page hardcover gift book, in the book bindery format of the bestselling PRAYER OF JABEZ book. I usually prefer full size books, but I don't mind these little gift books as long as they are Scripturally accurate, and this one is, indeed.

This book is not as humorous as his sermons, but it has very good information.

Another strong point that I like about Tony Evans is that he preaches a Bible perspective on the topic of the devil--in other words, Tony Evans openly warns us that the devil exists and what to do about the devil, just like the Bible warns us about the devil! I hate the lame, "broad-minded," phoney "christian" concept that the devil isn't real, and we should be more "modern" than to actually believe what the Bible actually says. Tony Evans teaches what the Bible actually says, and he's right! The devil DOES exist, and the Bible tells us so! Being broadminded is what the unsaved world wants you to do, but in Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus teaches us to be "narrow gate"-minded, (not open-minded towards sin).

In GOD CAN NOT BE TRUSTED, Tony Evans lists six lies of the devil: Satan does not exist, God is holding out on you, God cannot be trusted, Sin carries no consequences, You can be like God, and If it feels good then do it.

Believe it or not, most of the book is based on the devil in the Garden of Eden, interacting with Adam & Eve, and what all went down and why.

Format: Hardcover
This tiny 91 page pocket-sized book is an exposition of the temptation of Eve in Genesis 3. It is very simply written, and could be a converted sermon. Analyzing what lies behind Satan's statements to Eve, Tony fully and develops this passage. My only complaint is that it costs too much for such a tiny book.

I've read other books by Tony Evans and have enjoyed them. He has a wonderful way of saying things very straight and plain. He was right on point about the tricks the enemy uses to convince us that God cannot be trusted. I shared this book with a colleague who used to be a believer but has now fallen prey to the tricks of Satan and I am praying that it will open his eyes. If you need help witnessing to others, definitely pick up a copy. Whether a babe in Christ or a person who has been a Christian for many years, you are sure to be blessed by this book!

The title is an eye-catcher; as with all of Tony Evans' other offerings, this little book did not disappoint. It is simply a perfect sermonette - one that can be read in the space of a long train or subway commute. Very helpful, very uplifting.
