Instantaneous combustion!!! Prince Alex Ben Raschid of Sedikhan took one look at the professional belly-dancer hired for his birthday and fell instantly, irrevocably in lust! Sabrina Courtney is a fiercely independent and caring young woman who won't let the sheik have his wicked way with her. WOW!!!

I have read a lot of romance novels, but this is one that will always be close to my heart; I have reread this book more times than I can count over the years. It is about a woman finding a real and lasting love and about a man, used to getting his own way because of his position of power, learning to curb his selfish desires for the woman he loves.
These two characters have a very rocky road to a happy ending, but I thoroughly enjoyed going on the ride with them. All though this book was written in the days of the "bodice ripper" and is not politically correct in all of its pages, the beauty of this story will warm you through and through. I love this book and its characters and it is only of many that intertwines these and other characters in a variety of Love Swept novels from this author. Read them all...they are all well worth the time.

Iris Johansen vintage romance.,

This vintage "Loveswept" romance series by Iris Johansen (although written in the "80's") is still as much fun now as it was back then. I'm quite a bit longer in the tooth so's to speak, but it helps me reconnect with my much younger self.
Although the world has changed much, this series will delight and amuse you. The good guys are handsome scoundrels reformed by the love of a beautiful, and intellengent woman, and the bad guys get what's coming to them. Take a chance, enjoy, and breath a satified sigh when the last page is done. You won't regret it.

Abuse can be so romantic!,
This review is from: The Trustworthy Redhead (Loveswept, No. 35) (Mass Market Paperback)
I could only made it through the first 20 pages of this book - during which our heroine is frighteningly forced to stay in the man's house til he lets her leave, grabbed by the neck when he wants to make a point, and then stalked after she informs him she wants nothing to do with him. Doubtless this creep becomes somehow sympathetic later in the book, but I couldn't get past the nastiness of our introduction to him to find out.
I enjoy a good bodice ripper as much as the next girl (or bedlah ripper in this case), but I found "The Trustworthy Redhead" to be disturbing in the least. With very few changes this book could be horror/crime rather than "romance". I've never read anything else by Iris Johanson, but understand she's fairly popular - I hope her style has improved from glorified stalking to something a little more "romantic". I gave this one star because no stars wasn't an option. |
