Book Description

March 1, 2008
In the anticipated sequel to Zora's Cry, revisit the lives of the four women from the P.O.W.E.R. discipleship group. Zora is facing some challenges adjusting to married life after so many years as a single, and the pressure only increases when her new husband, Preston, declares his call to the ministry. Monet is happily dating but still unsure if marriage is for her. Belinda's stepson T.J. has grown dangerously rebellious, testing her faith and her marriage to the limit. And Paula has just given birth to a girl and is stunned when her husband demands a paternity test. The women pull together in prayer as they search for answers and end up confirming the truth about love: that it never fails.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love Never Fails, April 23, 2008
By
This review is from: The Truth About Love (Paperback)
In The Truth About Love, four women are joined together by the P.O.W.E.R. discipleship group. What started as a group of seemingly different women grew into them becoming real sisters. Paula Manns is struggling in her marriage. Her husband, Darryl, appears to be inching further and further from the relationship. Nothing she can do, not even having another child, seems to bring that warmth back into Darryl's eyes. Paula is determined to keep her commitment to Christ and her husband. Can a tragic accident be the Godsend that brings them back together? Belinda Stokes has to suddenly take on the role of being the mother of a teenage boy, when her husband, Thomas's, son, TJ, comes to live with them. TJ finds himself in several predicaments that only the grace of God could get him out of. Belinda stands in prayer that her marriage will not suffer from the wrath of her stepson. Zora Fields is a newlywed. Her husband, Preston, believes he has been called to the ministry. Zora does not sense she can be a preacher's wife. She struggles with the pressure at work to separate church from state. And then goes home and have church forced upon her. Monet Sullivan is the single one of the group. She has a great man, Jeremiah, in her life. She does not want to lose herself in a relationship. Is she scared of commitment? Is she holding Jeremiah to the standards of her past relationships?

McCollors creates relevant characters. Women of all ages can connect with one of the four women in the storyline. It was nice to see the different situations where the inner voice actually speaks to someone. Whether you listen to that voice or not we can all relate to hearing that inner voice telling us to do something. The story shows the bond of these women and how they are there to support each other. The story sometimes got off track and had many flashbacks that took away from the current situation. Although the novel had a slow pace, it was a good read and I would recommend it to McCollor fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Story, May 29, 2008
This review is from: The Truth About Love (Paperback)
Four women, all different, with different problems, but fast friends.
There's Paula who has just had a new baby and her husband is insisting on a paternity test.
Belinda has tried to be a good step-mother, in spite of Juanita, her husband's first wife. Now T.J., her stepson, has been shot and she not only has to worry about him, but Juanita is back in their lives, big time.
Zora has only been married for four months, when Preston, her new husband announces he's been called to the ministry, which is fine, but no one called her.
And then there's Monet, who gave up a regular paycheck to start out on her own. She thinks her friendship with Jeremiah might be a good basis for marrige, but she's just met Savon, who might change her mind.
They've always been there for each other, but now the four women might be facing problems that are too big for them. Can they trust God to work out a solution, and just what is the truth about love, anyway.
Tia McCollors has a knack for getting into her characters and bringing them to life. A beautiful, well written story.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Truth About a Good Read, January 28, 2009
This review is from: The Truth About Love (Paperback)
McCollors pulls the readers into a character driven story with believable flaws and strengths. The plot takes a few unexpected turns and twists to deliver the reader where they want to be by the end of this heartwarming adventure. It ministers and entertains without preaching or pulling punches.
