I was beyond thrilled to get a crack at this book so early. LOVED it. I am a huge Lisa Jewell fan and would say this is one of her all-time best (my favorite being Ralph's Party). I love ALL of her books but didn't love "Roommates Wanted" quite as much as her other books, so I worried she might have lost her edge. With "The Truth About Melody Browne" my faith in Jewell is 100% restored! Get it now, you'll read it in 2 days!

I've never read any of Lisa Jewell's books before, as I usually steer away from anything that looks too much like pure chick-lit. However, having read the great reviews on the UK site I thought I might like it. I read it over the weekend and loved it. I wish publishers would stop putting these wishy washy girly covers on books that are actually really decent and have nothing to do with shopping or romance. Give it a try.

I'm not typically someone who can sit and read a book for any extended period of time (aka more than an hour), but this book I could not put down. it's such a fun read, and getting encapsulated with Melody Browne and her quest for her childhood memories is so vividly written. Lisa Jewell is a master at creating a picture in your mind, where you can without any thought at all paint photos of what the characters would look like, sound like, etc. This is such a page turner. I can't recommend this book high enough. British Chick Lit at it's finest!

Fantastic read,
This review is from: Truth About Melody Browne (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've read in a while. My mum bought it for me as a present, and I almost didn't read it. Nothing about it appealed to me from the cover. But it just goes to show - you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The story of Melody Browne is fantastic, and Lisa Jewell chops between the present and the past perfectly - keeping the reader engaged in the story. There's no doubling up on information, and the story just unfolds without too much trickery or cleverness on the author's part. I was a bit sad to be honest when the story ended, I could have happily kept on reading about these characters for another day or two.

I got this book thinking it was a chic lit and it's not. It's however a very good book, a little sad but all leading to a great ending for Melody Browne's life.
