My 10 year old daughter loves this book!

The front of the book is so colorful and looks just like a teen, then the pages are in black and white, very nice.

Based on their reactions and high praise, I would strongly recommend both these books!

Truth and Dare: One Year of Dynamic Devotions for Girls, by Ann Margret Hovsepian is a wonderful year long devotion and worship tool for young girls

The cover is enticing for the age group, making them want to open it and see what is inside. The daily reading and message are short, plus a journaling portion, then there is the "dare" part of each lesson. A triple dare each day to further explore God's Word and put God's Word in action in her everyday life in fun and creative ways.

My 10 year old daughter loves this book! She said after the first day that "it make me want to read ahead and do more". She does these devotion lessons without me having to tell her. She has really enjoyed completing the "dares".

I wish the cover didn't say "for ages 9-12" because my 16 year old was very interested in it. I'd love to see something similar for older girls.

Thanks so much to B and B Media Group for sending me this book for my review.

I have three daughters, ages 8-11. I wanted to do something with them as a daily devotional, but didn't have the time to write one myself. After researching a LOT of books online, I decided on this one. I am SO happy I chose it! I bought each of my girls their own journal, and I use the book to write in. The girls and I have learned a lot about each other (these devotions are great stand-alone, but also great discussion starters to go deeper) and a lot about the God who loves us.

The Dares are age-appropriate, and do not sound or feel trite like a lot of other devotionals I've read for girls. Very introspective thoughts, but great for sharing in a trusted group, like our own family of girls. :0) I asked my daughters if they ever really thought about their spiritual life in this way before doing these devotions together, and they all answered no. These are pivotal ages for setting a foundation for a real relationship with God, and not just going through the motions, or reading the Bible because it's what is expected. I believe any girl using this book could deepen (or begin!) a real relationship with the Lord.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I received this book and when I opened it, I want to use it myself, even if it is for a young girl. Each page is a question page where it gives the Bible reference so that the Bible can be used to find answers then there is a place where it can be written. To be it is a Bible diary for everyday use. I think the young girl will love this and it will get them to read the Bible each day. If they get into reading it every day while they are young then it will be cared throughout their lives.

The front of the book is so colorful and looks just like a teen, then the pages are in black and white, very nice. I just don't know how to say enought about this book. I have a teen age granddaughter and I know she will enjoy this book "if I don't use it myself".

Thanks so much to B and B Media Group for sending me this book for my review.

I received this as a gift from Grama, and she was able to post my opinion. It is a great book, for someone like myself who is a"older" teenage girl, and not someone who has just become a teen . I know it sounds silly, but we all are different in how we are able to grow. Some of us grow at a pace that expresses a country more then a city. Which I am a country. I am happy at 15 and a half,I am able to read this. If I had been 12 or 13,I would not have been comfortable with it. I live in the rolling hills of a small town, and go to church with my folks. I am not familiar with some of the problems in the book but have heard of them on tv. It has been written in a great understanding way, that the author has been in the minds of many teenage girls. How blessed to have had that chance. I am glad I received this book. My 12 year old sister would have been too young. God bless this author who wrote this. I hope a lot of girls my age receive this to help them through their days...along with their Bibles another of my fave books.

My daughter hungers for a deeper relationship with God, and this book has provided a mechanism for her to seek Him--on her own. And she loves the devotions.

This book has a great lay-out. At the beginning of each day's devotion, there is one verse for the girls to read. Then there's a short story or illustration to go with it. That's followed by a Dare: a way to apply the Truth to their thoughts that day and then a triple-dog dare that helps girls bring what they've learned down to their everyday lives. At the end of the page there's a short journaling session. The book reads like they're sitting down with a big sister or older friend, and gleaning from her faith and experience. My daughter (11) is doing this solely on her own and because she wants to. I love that!

Truth & Dare by Ann Margret Hovsepian (published by David C. Cook 2011) is a one year devotional for girls between the ages of 9 thru 12. This book hits the emerging preteen demographic with relevant topics and a pop-culture title that will attract their interest. The overall theme serves to connect girls with God and help establish a closer relationship with him. Not only do girls get to open this inviting devotional but they will want to have a Bible handy as well to look up the key scripture for the day. This decision to only include the scripture reference for each day is a great tool in training young women to find their way around the Bible. All 365 days cover topics that include foundational truths (Every Christian is One Special Part of a Body), living well (A Quick Temper Displeases God), sticky situations (Gossip can Destroy Lives), tough topics (Witchcraft is Seriously Dangerous Stuff), and sharing your faith (Jesus' Followers Should Lead Others to Him). What I enjoy about reading through the pages of this well laid out devotional is its appeal to every learning style. Those who are still developing their reading skills won't find this burdensome. Each day is laid out on one page beginning with a scripture to look up, a statement of truth, a 100-125 word of encouragement, and three challenges (dares) that girls can use to apply what they've read. A section is also left at the bottom of the page for journaling. This devotional allows each day for either a creative, active, interactive, or reflective response from the reader. Though Truth or Dare may initially seem daunting due to its 432 pages, it is broken down in manageable bites, laid out Monday thru Friday with the weekend laying out a different format containing "extra time" activities to keep things fresh.Read more ›
