Nobody would understand this, which is fine because that's actually how Super Sid Bros. likes it, but Truth or Dare was near the top of the Must Be Reviewed list. But that all changed recently when we got the chance to see Truth or Dare, the film that the immortal Wicked Games is the sequel to. Did the two plots intertwine? Of course not, but that's why we love b. One...

Truth or Dare is one of those films that entertains in spite of itself. The story revolves around an everyday Joe who's ready to surprise his long-time girlfriend with a wedding proposal. Unbeknownst to him, she has a surprise of her own. In typical movie fashion, he comes home from work early one day only to find the love of his life "entertaining" his best friend. The scene causes our "Joe" to have what can only be described as a break down, in which he reverts to a childhood game of truth or dare (hence the title), a game where he would often mutilate himself to win the attention of his peers. From this point on, any bit of intelligent filmaking is non-existant, but despite all of the improbable scenarios that unfold such as mowing down children and elderly with automatic weapons, stabbing hospital orderlies in the eye with a pencil, showing up at the ex-girlfriend's house with a trunk full of weapons and even slicing off his own tongue (which apparently grows back, since he is able to speak plainly later in the film), this movie is absolutely hilarious! While not on the same playing field as other cult classics such as Re-Animator or the Evil Dead series in terms of comedic prowess, Truth or Dare is of similar ilk. The only difference is that this is purely unintentional. Had it been obvious that the people making this movie were in on the joke, I believe that it would be held in much higher regard. As it stands however, Truth or Dare does contain one scene worthy of it's purchase alone, it features perhaps the greatest exploding head gag put on film. What better way to utilize the technology that DVD offers, than to watch this scene one glorious frame at a time!

One thing that the two films did have in common was the Tim Ritter signature, a Wicked Games moment right out of the Santa just got picked again playbook.

Truth or Dare's main character is Mike Strauber, the Bill Lumbergher look-a-like with the enormous brown Santa Specs from the 80's. Mike walks in on his girl and his buddy upon coming home one day. I guess the old boy didn't want his lady having too much fun while he was away, you know what I mean? So he leaves and becomes a total nutbar. He goes back to kill them both, but he's only able to clip the buddy before his ex girlfriend slices him because he holds his knife above her head for a solid 5 seconds. Anyway this lands Mike in a mental institution from which he breaks out in a phenominal sequence. All of the sudden after he breaks out, he's wearing a copper mask. No idea why. He obviously does some more slayings and cut. End of film.

This was an outstanding movie all the way around. It had 9/10 B elements. The only one that was missing was awful film quality. This one was not shot with a camcorder. Very disappointing. Other than that though, it was a great viewing experiance. The truth or dare, by the way, was trying to figure out if any of these actors got paid or worked again. The answer: mmm no. Did someone say Drive-In Totals?

5 kicks missed by a total of 384 feet.

8 gallons of corn syrup as fake blood

1 pencil to the eye

1 mutilated leg eventhough the dare was to "cut your arm off"

3 scenes repeated at least 4 times.

4 times you thought the movie was ending but it didn't

5 breasts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coolest movie ever!!!, March 19, 2006
This review is from: Truth or Dare? (DVD)
i know what people say about truth or dare, but i think it's the coolest movie ever. you've got to have some appreciation for cheap, ultra-cheesy things; it's so funny. i could watch it over and over again all day long and just roll on the floor laughing...if i didnt have to work. the synthesized keyboards are the best; they're supposed to sound like suspense music. totally awesome. highly recommended for anyone with a good sense of humor. :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Movie Ever Made - But it's so FUNNY!!!, February 21, 2003
This review is from: Truth or Dare? (DVD)
Not to be mistaken with Madonna's Truth or Dare which is also bad but not as funny. This story centres around a man who for some reason ends up plaing Truth or Dare out in the woods with a large breasted hitch hiker and is unable to JUST SAY NO!, when it comes to the dare part of the game.
He ends up in a mental institution, after his wife cheats on him..? Doesn't make sense....I know....plays Truth or Dare with some inmates, pulling weapons out of God knows where....the whole movie is like this. In the hospital he magically produces a grenade, a bowie knife, and a gun....when he breaks out of the hospital the car he steals is loaded with a shot gun, an axe, a chainsaw and nunchucks....why??? Who's car was this. And for some reason that only the movie makers can explain, for half the movie the killer is wearing a "bronze" mask...the plastic moves in and out when he breaths!!!
So funny! If you are a fan of cheese, buy it, rent it, love it!
It has no equal.

Almost to bad to laugh at. A one time viewing. Plot: "A man returns home from work to find his wife in bed with another man. Doesn't take long for him to lose his sanity." YAWN. How boring. The acting is very unbelievable and lame. I found myself laughing at some of the dialogue and acting in this. It was just so horribly funny. The weirdest thing I found about this film was the fact that Backstreet Boys star, A.J. McLean is in this. He plays the guy that goes insane when he has flashbacks of when he was a kid. Man, I have no idea what that A.J. mofo was doing with this movie, but I can see why he doesn't act anymore. So now all he has to do is STOP SINGING! This is a pathetic "film" and should be viewed only as trash, but it's a cheezyfest that will keep you laughing all night.
