Professionally Made Modern EBM,
By SandmanVI (Glen Allen, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Truth Is Fanatic (Audio CD)
Rasc and Gun are such long-time veterans of the EBM / elektro scene that they probably couldn't make a weak dance track without a very focused effort to do so. In that sense they are similar to Icon of Coil's whose headman has been around for eons. The knock on them, also similar to IOC, is that the lyrics can be subpar at times. The vocals are standard futurpop fare, sneering but undistorted. However there are some moments on here that are truly inspired and there are very few total duds.
The band does something rare nowadays, which is lead off with a strong track. The title track comes on slowly as if it will be the customary instrumental opener but kicks in with full-on EBM force. "Almost Violent" is another slammer. "Electronic World Transmission" is one of the singles and it's OK, but the [:SITD:] remix near the disc's end is an absolute killer... 100% improvement over the regular version. BTW [:SITD:] are a great up & coming dark elektro band. The other single, and it will be obvious, is the epic futurepop smash "Merging Oceans" with its skittering VNV-style synths and vaguely ominous lyrics. "Lifelight" is another strong effort but also one improved by its hard trance-like remix. All told, you get your money's worth of dance hits and songs you can sing along with. Deep-fried adrenaline junkfood for the club, your iPod or your car.

A good choice for early Covenant fans,

This review is from: Truth Is Fanatic (Audio CD)
For the most part this album has a sound similar to Covenant (pre Northern Lights). A couple of the tracks (One Level Down and Hush) remind me of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. An enjoyable album with two high energy remixes.
