This is a great recording from one of the brightest stars among the new tenor players on the jazz scene today. Joining Tardy are Lincoln Center trumpter Marcus Printup and rising star Helen Sung (on piano)--each has a generous amount of solo space. The writing is fresh, and Tardy's playing is invigorating. He's never coasting. A great arrangement of Wade in the Water is a highlight for me. Check it out!
