I'm quite sick of the "Metallica"-Comparism, July 23, 2005
This review is from: The Truth Inside The Dying Sun (Audio CD)
I've never heard Metallica play this style of Metal. They certainly are influenced by Metallica. The Vocalist sound like the younger James Hetfield. And they also have a strong Thrash-, as well as a strong Rock-basis, just like Metallica. but then again, it sounds more like a Metalband you'd expect from Finnland. There's also a lot of typical finnish Gothic Metal in here. So, you're better of comparing them to bands, like Sentenced. And they are really good. There are only 2 or 3 songs, that I would describe as mediocre, so I'll only give this album 4 stars. But tracks like "The Saddest grief", "Struggle In Dissarray", "The One Who Forgives Me", "Collaps Of ritual Belief", "Painful Ignorance", "Nothig Realistic" or "Lies Worte Mysteries" are just great. A mixture of moderate Thrash, modern Hard Rock and finnish Gothic Metal. Some great Riffs, very catchy refrains, interesting songstructures, wonderful harmonies, good solos - it's all in there. This album is also way better than their previous efford, "Agitaion". The songwriting has improved a lot, and all the industrial stuff is gone. It just rocks a lot more. It's really a pity, that you'll have such a hard time aquiring this album. They a victims of some strange label-policy, and also get underestimated a lot by this neverending comparism to Metallica. This is no Metallica-Rip Off! They have their own, very unique style. I'm into Heavy Metal for 17 years now. I've heard a lot, and it's not easy to impress me. But all I can say about this band is, that there are a lot of moments on this album, where they are really great. I love this album. If you like albums, like "The Funeral Album" by Sentenced or "Draconian Times" by Paradise Lost, just listen to it. And listen to it closely, maybe several times. I'm sure, you will like it.

The only thing saving metal., August 30, 2002

Every song on this album is a reminder of how rock and metal used to be. Everyone remembers the good old days of Metallica, and then they changed on everybody. I've been listening to Am I Blood for a few years now, and they contain the heavy metal spirit. Track after track of blazing riffs, each song better than the last one. Buy this album, you won't regret it.
