Book Description

Blessed Trinity Novels June 1, 2010
A Blessed Trinity Novel

The newest member of Followers of Jesus Faith Worship Center stirs up more troubles than blessings when he decides to rededicate his life to God. . .

As the son of a well-known minister, Clarence Walker knows his decision to leave his father's flock and join Pastor George Landris's mega-church ministry is a controversial one. But little does he suspect it will ignite a firestorm of revelations that will shake the heart of the congregation--and his very own family. . .

From a long-buried secret that will bring the paternity of not one, but two women, to light, to a parishioner whose long awaited love match may be thwarted by resistance from an unexpected source, hidden truths are coming to the surface. But most shocking of all is that Clarence's own father, Reverend Marshall Walker, may not be the pious figure he claims to be. And since evidence of his transgressions lies in the hands of his arch nemesis, it's only a matter of time before Reverend Walker's life--and his church--falls like a house of cards.

Perceptive, moving, and emotional, Vanessa Davis Griggs once again celebrates church life with its triumphs, tragedies, and all-too-human mistakes--proving that without truth, there can be no light. . .

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

The sixth scripture-inspired installment of Griggs's saga (Goodness and Mercy, etc.) again follows the adventures of the friends and family of Pastor George Landris and his rival, the Reverend Marshall Walker . Clarence Walker, Marshall's son has upset his father by defecting to Landris's mega-church in Birmingham, Alabama but another plot twists investigates the mystery of 99-year-old Ransom Perdue who might be the long-lost father of not one but two women. . As Johnny Mae, Landris's novelist wife plans Perdue's 100th birthday, former exotic dancer Garbrielle Mercedes faces heroic struggles. Her very sweet courtship with Dr. Zachary Morgan is tested not only by her past but by Leslie, his disapproving mother, and a horde of free-loading relatives who arrive on her doorstep, expecting her to take them in. Full of crazy church politics and a huge cast, Griggs keeps this on-going story alive by addressing the challenges of living by Biblical rules with homespun humor. Fans will be pleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Truth Shall Set You Free, July 7, 2010

The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Truth Is The Light (Blessed Trinity Novels) (Paperback)
THE TRUTH IS THE LIGHT is a fascinating novel of redemption, love, and family.
Ransom "Gramps" Perdue has seen much in his ninety-nine years. As a young man, he was put in prison for an act forbidden during those times. Once released, the one person he loved more than anyone has vanished from his life forever.

Gramps was good working with his hands and loved making things out of wood. Little did he know the three wooden boxes he made many decades ago would unleash a cluster of past family secrets.

I took great pleasure reading Vanessa Davis Griggs' skillful execution of making the wooden boxes the heart of the story and bringing Gramps' truth to light. She created his character with strength and warmth; a man who for ninety-nine years had travelled many paths, never wavering from his faith in God. She also drew attention to the other characters in the novel who fell short at one point in their lives and through the grace of God was able to turn their lives around.

I am most impressed with how the title actually had a dual meaning. Whatever we may have hidden from our past, the truth will come to light and also we can't have light and darkness; Jesus exemplifies truth in the light and if we follow Him we'll never be in darkness.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!, December 28, 2010

I was very diappointed in this book. It sounded like it would be a great read. I thought there were too many details about the characters' past. It was very uninteresting and nothing really ever happened in the book. Boring ! Boring! Boring! I don't plan on buying anymore of this author's books.
