Finally, something worth listening to...,

I must say the first time I heard this album I was in awe. Aside from the fact it was played note by note on Roger's Moog Voyager, a feat in itself, he has managed to create a unique sound not heard in todays overproduced, pop star, bling-bling "products" sold to the masses and "sheeple" around the world. The album as a whole is definately a journey in itself, taking you from highs to lows, from natural to synthentic, and back again. Erin Langs Vocals are on three of the songs. On "Treasure" her soft, sensual vocals bring you back to that world you once remembered when you could sit alone in your room listening to music and being in love with that girl who might just love you back. If your lost and looking for something new, in need of a great album to focus your chi, or something to just plain make out to, buy this album...

Free at Last,

Away from the years and bonds of formulaic imposition Roger O'Donnell has finally found the time and space to create a classic beautiful album of subtlety, honesty and completeness. At times painful to listen to in terms of emotional intensity this free-flowing Moog-assisted exploration talks both to the conscious and unconscious mind and succeeds in breaking all preconceptions. Please don't bother to categorise - just listen - for a unique musical experience.

I am a big fan of Roger O'Donnell's keyboard work with The Cure, especially on the Disintegration and Blood Flowers ablums. The product description for this album says O'Donnell plays the whole album on a Moog Voyager, which he does. The Moog has a distinctive sound, and there are some cool songs on the album, but the WHOLE album is on the Moog, and this Moog sound becomes a little monotonous by the last song. I wish O'Donnell on this album had included some Moog stuff, along with some piano and keyboard/snyth songs/sounds. I think a mix like this would have better highlighted O'Donnell's cool keyboard playing. There are like three songs where there is a female vocalist and those are good, but the remaining cuts are all "instrumental" songs on the Moog. The Moog sound is cool, but it does have a heavy, mechanical, and dated sound to it. The plus side of this album is that it is DIFFERENT and O'Donnell's playing is unique with a ambient / space music tone to it. As an aside, O'Donnell looked so totally cool in the Cure video for "Just Like Heaven." Cool guy, cool musician.
