If you are aware of this particular book you are probably aware of its reason for existence. The so-called "Leuchter Report" of an American 'engineer' who was paid a large amount of money to go to Poland and (illegally) collect samples from the Auschwitz gas chambers and test them for the presence of Cyanide and present his findings in defense of Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel.

Leuchter's findings were surprising, no cyanide whatsoever. Of course, it isn't so surprising when one realizes that this test was never meant to find anything. This book deconstructs piece by piece as to how this report is a fraud and it's author a foolish man easily led by the deniers.

The articles point out the greatest weakness of this report, the fact that Leuchter is not a qualified engineer. The Deniers hype him up as an expert in execution technology especially gas chambers but in point of fact, as this report shows, Leuchter never actually worked on a gas chamber. He had worked on electric chairs and lethal injection machines but never a gas chamber. The other major critique is the fact that designing execution technology is a completely different proposition than testing an area for Cyanide concentration which would be the forum of a fully qualified chemical engineer.

In leuchter's defense, despite his general gullibility and lack of qualifications, he certainly seemed dedicated to improving execution technology to make it more humane for the executioner and the victim alike, which explains why he is completely out of place in Auschwitz where the facilities were designed for the highest possible numbers in the shortest possible time.

The articles in this book written by some of the greatest experts on the holocaust and some of the greatest crusaders against holocaust denial. they show step by step how the leuchter report is misguided, uninformed, and largely the result of fraud and (perhaps purposefully) using the wrong testing methods.

reading this is easy as it is broken up into short articles and the relevance of this subject will become more and more relevant as the eye-witnesses to the holocaust disappear and we are left with only their memory and reason to stave of the attacks of those who would mock the dead by saying it never happened.
