Editorial Reviews

Truth & Salvage Company boast four lead singer/songwriters and six members in total, each with a unique story to tell. The result is genuine American Rock N Roll with a timeless sound and interwoven lyrical storytelling. Their palette stretches from rock to country to alternative, and the 12 songs on this debut showcase four-part harmonies and their own playful wit. It is music that could only happen in America much like a great songbook.

Prior to their conception, the acclaimed members performed and collaborated with many other well-known and talented acts such as The Moldy Peaches, Ben Folds Five, Jack Johnson, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, as well as members of My Morning Jacket. A staggered exodus in 2005 brought all six musicians to the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, where they first performed together during casual late-night jam sessions. It was on that very stage that Truth & Salvage Co. was born.

It was, in fact, 'the sincerity of their song writing and passionate performance' that attracted The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson to produce their debut album. With Robinson, the members of Truth & Salvage Co. were pushed out of their comfort zone, transforming great songs into pure brilliance.

Truth & Salvage Co. toured extensively in 2009 as the opening band for The Black Crowes and in 2010 they will tour with The Avett Brothers. In addition, the band also holds regular sold-out residencies at the Hotel Café. As a result of this extensive touring, they have a loyal following.

5.0 out of 5 stars old time rock & roll, August 14, 2010

Now this is what I'm constantly looking for when I buy stuff I'm unfamiliar with. Usually, I'm disappointed. But not this time. I was out of town when they had a CD release party for this. Wish I'd have seen them, in retrospect. I like music that borders on the Bob Seger/John Fogerty style of rock and roll and I've found another gem here. So far the best "new" find for me this year. Not unlike the star find last year [Adult Nights by Wild Light].No sense going song by song but they're all top calibre.
Shell out the bucks if this type of music puts a smile on your face.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is a must have in your library!, July 23, 2010

This review is from: Truth & Salvage Co. (Vinyl)
I was introduced to this band when I and my girlfriend traveled to see The Black Crows in the summer of 2009. They took the stage of a general admission show and at first the crowd was let's say not responsive to them. By the second song the front of the stage started to fill in with people dancing. They had everyone's attention. There stage presents along with the feel good sounds they where playing just continued for the hole show. The harmony of there voices together made it feel like you where in your backyard with friend and family having a party you just never wanted to end. There set was over and it left me wanting more.
The next day I looked them up on the internet and found them on Facebook (I will post link at bottom). I also found that they were playing next to my home town. I gather a couple of my friends and we went to the show. As we where walking in I noticed one of the members outside and introduced myself and told him how a came to know the band and I proceeded in. By the end of the night I met the whole band and I can tell you these guys are some standup men!
That night I them play a full set and just could not stop dance along with every song. The night came to an end and I went home with the feeling I just seen the next big band. Senses then I have seen them every time I can and every time I have a great time.
I could go on and on but I won't. Get this album and I guarantee you will love it just like I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars anothe PBS discovery!, January 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Truth & Salvage Co. (Vinyl)
I happened to be channel-surfing last weekend and happened upon the local PBS station here, with Truth & Salvage Co. catching my ear. As soon as I heard them, they had that "real" sound to them so I listened on. in short order, I was hooked. AMAZING MUSICIANS!! I knew I just had to hear more from them, so I went to Amazon as I always initially do, and there it was. and to see that it was offered on vinyl was just the icing on the cake! (there are a BUNCH of us that listen to vinyl btw!) I cannot wait to hear them on my turntable, it will no doubt be even better than the first time I had the good fortune to hear them on PBS. This is what I would call a solid band. EVERY member played an integral part in the group's sound, which is just a pleasure to listen to. Don't pass this one up, you'll be depriving yourself of some quality, heartfelt music. I didn't think they made 'em like this anymore, but Truth & Salvage Co. is proof-positive that they do!! Thanks much Truth & Salvage Co.!!
