Book Description

Harlequin Intimate Moments August 1, 1997
Only one man could help her.

WHEN DREAMS COME TRUE…

Shaine Richards's sleep was filled with dreams and nightmares. Dreams of a brooding, sexy, handsome man who made her long to touch him. And nightmares of her toddler nephew, who'd been lost in a river, crying out for her.

Baffled by those images, she searched for answers—and found her way to Austin Allen's isolated home. The renowned psychic had turned away her letters and calls, but he would find her hard to refuse in person. Yet one glance at him shook her world.

Because her dreams had come true.

And now Austin had to help her find Toby….

Editorial Reviews

Review

Austin Allen can see the past when he touches objects, and Shaine Richards can see what the future might be. She has a dream and he is there, but she doesn't know who he is or why he is in her dream. And it is in her dreams that she can see Toby, alive, but older. The past haunts Shaine because her sister, Maggie, died when her car went into the river, but her toddler son, Toby, was never found. Shaine's mentor from the institute gives her the name and address of the only man who can really teach her how to use her special gift. She is told very little about Mr. Allen, but Shaine goes to Colorado hoping she can convince him to help her. Austin Allen had been a child prodigy and when he could no longer bear the emotional upheaval, he became a recluse and a loner in the mountains of Colorado. Shaine is pleasantly surprised when she meets the young, handsome Mr. Allen and she is attracted to him immediately. Austin is captivated by Shaine, and after listening to her, he reluctantly agrees to help her develop her gift. But he warns her of two things: 1. to be prepared for the worst, for usually, they are almost always dead; and, 2. he does not want a commitment. Working together brings them closer to finding Toby, and closer to each other. The Truth About Toby held my interest from beginning to end! The suspense is just as titillating as the romance! Cheryl St. John deftly weaves romance with intense suspense and has one of the most exciting books to hit the shelves! Cheryl St. John showcases her immense talent in The Truth About Toby! She artfully blends romance and suspense, and in this book, both are stupendous!Gloria Miller -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved -- From Literary Times

The Truth About Toby is yet another of St. John's books that keeps you reading until the last page. You find yourself truly caring about the characters. I liked it as much as her Historical Romances. Keep it up!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Truth About Toby is that it's a winner!, April 14, 1998
This review is from: The Truth About Toby (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No 810) (Harlequin Intimate Moments) (Paperback)
Cheryl St. John is an author who moves flawlessly from historicals to contemp to paranormals. The setting doesn't matter, because wherever she puts them, her characters live and breathe. They take up a corner of your heart and don't let go for a very long time - if ever! The Truth About Toby is it's on my keeper shelf - along with the rest of CSJ's books!
