Edge-of-the-seat excitement!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Truth Teller (Paperback)
I began THE TRUTH TELLER at nine o'clock at night, figuring I'd spend an enjoyable hour reading, then call it a night. Two pages into this story, that plan went out the window. At midnight, my husband came downstairs rubbing his eyes. "Are you coming to bed?" I shook my head, eyes glued to THE TRUTH TELLER. "Not anytime soon, honey!" Finally at two in the morning I finished the book, having moved not one muscle in five hours (except for gripping the pages during several tense moments!). As a big fan of Angela Hunt's writing, I can assure you, this is her best novel yet. Stunningly crafted, THE TRUTH TELLER presents characters worth caring about and a story I couldn't put down...literally! I loved it.

Lara is a young woman who just lost her husband to cancer. She desperately wants to have HIS baby. So, after a few months have passed, she approaches her doctors to use frozen sperm and fertilize her egg so she can have this dream child. Unknown to her, a billionaire who wants to live forever, has bought his way into the lives of those around her, and she ends up deceived, used and humiliated. On the run, Lara never forgets the neighbor man who delivered her baby and she returns to him for help. A high profile trial is probably the peak of this book. Angela Hunt certainly knows how to write a mystery book!!!

Couldn't put it down!,

I've read several of Angela Elwell Hunt's books before and always enjoyed them, but I picked this one up the other day and couldn't put it down! All of the sudden I looked up and realized it was 3 am and it took everything in me to put off finishing it until the next night. From the first chapter this book draws you in and takes off at a pace that never allows you to get bored. This book has the suspense and pacing of secular books like The Da Vinci Code, but this one is grounded in God's love and truth. I guarantee you willnot be disappointed if you give this book a try.

Not Just For Christians,

This review is from: The Truth Teller (Paperback)
This is a fun read for everyone. The fight of the "regular man" against the rich-and-above-the-law is similar to the style of John Grishm. The science fiction resembles a mix of Jurassic Park and Charmed. Theologians are given many deep levels and thoughtful questions to ponder. Christians will appreciate the positive representation of the Bible-believing faith.

"The Truth Teller" is a great novel. The characters are very believable and the dialogue is well done. The story involves a young widow who wishes to have a baby. Her late husband has left a sperm sample, but he died of cancer. Should she risk the pregnancy? Complicating it all is an evil and rich man. This smooth operator with a hidden agenda plans to use and exploit Lara, by having her become pregnant with DNA from an "iceman" who froze to death thousands of years ago.The story is GREAT! Many plots twists and turns. I loved it.

Angela's insight is keen. She can grasp human character and put them in situations of the "what if". I love to see how her characters react and find myself wondering at what my own reactions would be. She makes me ponder and I love it. She makes me search myself and I grow. She makes me grade myself and sometimes I cringe. I always learn something. A world where lies can be detected? Scary. A world where greed rules? Here. Put them together with a talented author and you have a great book to share with friends. I have all Angela's books I can find andI don't regret buying one.

Angela Hunt is at her best with The Truth Teller!!! Simply impossible to put down, this spellbinding novel weaves electrifying twists and turns into a sensational, thought-provoking plot!! Heroine Lara Godfrey's struggles with both internal and external conflicts are detailed masterfully and earn the full sympathy of the reader. The technology "germ-line therapy" is possible enough to stimulate the reader's careful contemplation of morally and ethically correct standpoints on this controversial issue. Hunter possesses both an innocence and an incredible insight for the truth and for God, and is developed into an endearing child whose heart-wreching death devastates both Lara and the reader. The Truth Teller is a masterpiece that will enthrall readers for years to come!!

Angela Hunt is one of the premier storytellers of our day, never failing to deliver a wonderful read. But her talent shines as never before in THE TRUTH TELLER. Thought-provoking and suspenseful, this book grabbed my interest on page one and didn't let go for an instant.--Robin Lee Hatcher, author of THE FORGIVING HOUR and WHISPERS FROM YESTERDAY

A winner!,
This review is from: The Truth Teller (Paperback)
I love the depth of detail in Angela Hunt's books. Everything is so well researched - the reader can sense that every paragraph has been analyzed and written from a broad knowledge base. The Truth Teller was another such book. The characters are not stereotyped, which was a pleasure. For example, Devin Sloan, the book's villain, has just enough knowledge of God mixed up with a Marxist idealism to develop his dangerous plan for mankind. Lara is a strong, capable woman, and you find yourself cheering her on as she slips from the grasp of Devin and his circle over and over again. But then, just so you don't find yourself compared to an impossible heroine, Lara shows her flaws - becoming overprotective and not wanting to accept outside help from those who love her.At first I wasn't happy with the ending, but then I realized how cleverly the author brought all the pieces together. And then, the irony of the book hit me a few days after reading - Devin Sloan's genetic miracle actually carried a genetic disease. The message was clear: man, no matter how brilliant, cannot out-manipulate God. Another winner from Angela Hunt - romance, suspense, intrigue, all well-researched and incredibly well written.

I read all of the time; but I never write reviews. This book merited one. Angela Hunt obviously knows the Lord AND is a great story-teller. Hard to find in the Christian fiction world these days. Great plot, great read- very enjoyable and uplifting- all at the same time. Thank you Angela!
