5.0 out of 5 stars Truth Triumphant
Wilkinson has written a masterful, if singular, review of the Church in the Wilderness. Although most of the histories written of the church follow the movements of the compromised church, this author traces the steps of the pure and therefore largely rejected church. 1.0 out of 5 stars disappointing
The author makes breathtaking assumptions about prophecies in the book of Daniele about Israel and applies them to organized church institutions, predominantly in medieval times and culminating with Martin Luther. I purchased the book based on good reviews and the promises of the title to represent the true history of true Christians. It does NOT do this, the author...

Wilkinson has written a masterful, if singular, review of the Church in the Wilderness. Although most of the histories written of the church follow the movements of the compromised church, this author traces the steps of the pure and therefore largely rejected church. Readers interested in a penetrating study of those who have remained faithful to God's Word despite harrowing opposition will enjoy reading this carefully researched volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scholarly review of the early Church, June 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Truth Triumphant (Paperback)
Truth Triumphant purports to describe the Church in the Wilderness as described by St. John in the biblical book of Revelation. Whether or not the author succeeds or not depends on the reader's personal orientation.

That said, this work is extremely well documented from a wide variety of sources and does not rely on speculation. It should be on the must read list for any thoughtful student of religion.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truthful history of the true church, December 26, 2010
This review is from: Truth Triumphant (Paperback)
If you want to know the true history of the Christian church after the time of the apostles, you need to read this book. The material is well researched from approximately 300 authorities. The popular veneer of historical propaganda is removed. The true church is followed across the centuries and across the continents. Its history is one of repeated faithfulness to the teachings of Jesus as preserved in the Bible, and of repeated persecution from the evolving false church system. These histories are a prerequisite to understanding the Bible prophecies in the books of Daniel and Revelation.

I research and document church (Christian) history and this would be the most informative book I have read on the subject. 10 out of 10. I have found matters and details documented that I have not known or found elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book should be read by all true believers!, April 2, 2005
This review is from: Truth Triumphant (Paperback)
Every pastor, believer, etc in Jesus Christ as Savior should take the time to read this wonderful, heartbreaking and inspiring book on the history of the Wilderness/Remnant Church. You may not understand or agree with all of it. But afterwards you should look at yourself and the church in a different light. Good reading!!

The way God leads His faithful people in this old sinful world is many a time against what man think it should be. This book shows that indeed God is the ultimate ruler of this world. HE would never let the knowledge of HIM dies off though man may willfully or unknowingly trying to destroy it.

Warning - this is not a book for the bigoted Papist. It is a thoroughly well researched and documented account of the struggle between the followers of primitive Christianity from the earliest days of the Church through to the Reformation. The struggle was between the followers of the Scriptures and the followers of man-made traditions and doctrines. It is a story of horrendous religious persecution and a shining example to those who fight for the Truth because in the end the Truth prevails. It is also enlightening on the topics of dispute in the medieval church and the history of the Church in the Wilderness (note the Revelation of St John the Divine) and its evangelistic work in the East as well as in Europe. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone interested in finding out about the true history of the groups condemned as heretics by the Roman Church.

The author makes breathtaking assumptions about prophecies in the book of Daniele about Israel and applies them to organized church institutions, predominantly in medieval times and culminating with Martin Luther. I purchased the book based on good reviews and the promises of the title to represent the true history of true Christians. It does NOT do this, the author being heavily swayed by the desire to over-analyze based on his theological training. Also, everything is weighed down by his trying to make a case for a ritual, institutionalized Sabbath on Saturday for Christians, something Jesus and Paul make clear is not the point of anything.
