Don't Waste Your Time Reading This Book, July 28, 2007
This review is from: The Truth about Trucking (Paperback)
I want to be a trucker. After 21 years in the military and 7 more in law enforcement, I'm going to pursue another honorable career and hope I can do it justice. But, this book sucks!
It was either poorly edited or not edited at all. It gives me hope that I too can write a book and this publisher will kick it out there for me. Obviously, a gift to write is not required. There are numerous grammer errors, inappropriate font changes, boring and illogical paragraphs - and it proved to be a horrible read. This is a case of somebody who thinks he has something worth saying, but isn't able to say it in any way interesting or intelligible.
The author, Zeller, bounces around between audiences in 1st and 3rd person; inserts too many short stories that have nothing or little to do with trucking; and questions his intelligence frequently by stating, "I'm not a moron" (leading me to think he's in denial).
Zeller needs to stay with trucking and leave the writing alone.

The Truth About Trucking, August 4, 2008
This review is from: The Truth about Trucking (Paperback)
Trucker Steve Zellers buys a manual typewriter and starts banging on the keys. The end result is a summary of about twenty years of endless roadtrips across the USA. Partly magical and partly visceral, Steve talks about his life on the road as if he was sitting next to you in a truck stop.
There have been of late a number of these "truth about trucking" books popping up from time to time. Steve Zellers holds nothing back. If you want to learn more about how one man spent a good chuck of his life on the road, this book tells you the good, bad and ugly. While the form and grammar may be a little disjointed at times, that in itself adds to artistic effect.
Roll on trucker Steve!

Author Shares His Heart and Soul, July 27, 2008
This review is from: The Truth about Trucking (Paperback)
I'd like to commend the author for sharing his heartfelt stories with many. I share a book with the same title, "The Truth About Trucking", but mine is about the industry scams and how to succeed in trucking.
This is not a plug, just a fact.
As far as those being critical of "how it was written", I would like to just say, "look beyond the editing" and appreciate the sincerity.
He's a "fellow trucker" who has experienced a lot of the hardships that many do, and Mr Zellars has shared his trucking life with all who want to read about it. He's got a lot of heart.
Allen Smith
