Editorial Reviews

From the Author

If you write checks or accept checks, then you need this book. I wrote this book after reading many books on the subject of check fraud, and found they all said the same thing. None explored check fraud from the other side. This book tells you exactly why criminal do what they do with checks, and why all those check security features just don't work.

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Truth about Check Fraud (Paperback)
In today's world, it is not such a stretch of the imagination to visualize your life savings being wiped out by a single unfortunate event. What that event might be however, can depend largely on the businesses and banks you deal with, as well you the behaviors you employ when dispensing your hard earned money. Think about it...when was the last time you dealt with cash? I mean actual bills of currency "traded" for products or procedures...take a moment...any come to mind? No? We are a people of needs fueled by the drive to have it right here, right now, when we want it, thus we rarely see the "green" rewards of our labor. Most of our funds are channeled into and out of our bank accounts through direct deposits, electronic debits, and checks. Even in today's modernized society, many still use paper checks to pay bills, pay for services, or withdraw cash. It's a hard habit to break, but one that can carry just as many risks if not more than "debit-happy" customers.

In "The Truth about Check Fraud", author Jay LaBonte reveals the many facts and statistics associated with this "disease" inflicted upon our susceptible society. A handy guide for both businesses and consumers, there is a wealth of knowledge within its pages. Learn what the numbers on the checks are used to determine beyond your banking institution; take a look at the many forms of check fraud schemes thus far uncovered. Learn valuable means of protecting yourself, your loved ones and your business from falling prey to these cons. To aid in getting a better night sleep by feeling a bit more secure in your transactions, take a look at this literary work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, February 9, 2006
This review is from: The Truth about Check Fraud (Paperback)
I am very interested in check fraud, and I have read most books on the subject. All the other books tell you the usual things to look out for, and what features to look for. This is the only book that tells you why criminals don't worry about those check protection methods. I highly recommend this book. Sure it tells you some of the usual stuff, but it also makes you realize how truly simple it is to commit check fraud and not get caught.
