Quick insight to multiple employee connection techniques, October 15, 2004
This review is from: Truth about Teams: A Facilitator's Survival Guide (PSI Successful Business Library) (Paperback)
Do you think that many reviews presented on Amazon.com are clandestinely written by friends/relatives of the authors, or even the authors themselves to pad the star ratings?
I want to be upfront and say that I am a brother of the "The Truth about Teams" writer, Dr. Jay. T. Huston.
The small business or field of dentistry that I have been involved in for the past twenty-six years has offered little or no employee/people development education. Why I picked up this particular book is obvious... my bro wrote it.
The person who gave a two (2) star rating may have been looking for something that is not found in this text. This book is not about manipulating people. It is based on treating them with dignity and honor.
If you are interested in connecting with your employees and have a "work with" as opposed to a "work for" ethic - in my opinion, this book is worth your time and money. It offers many practical worksheets on how to enhance the workplace environment that you or your office manager if willing can easily implement. Consultants charge thousands of dollars for this identical information.
If you have a background in team psychology, I believe that you may still find this book useful for checking the systems you have in place for employee development and motivation.

maybe the truth, but not very useful, July 13, 2000
This review is from: Truth about Teams: A Facilitator's Survival Guide (PSI Successful Business Library) (Paperback)
Unless you know nothing about team management or how people learn (meaning different learning styles, working styles, etc.) find a better book. This book goes on and on about what you should do but gives you little pragmatic advice on how to get it done. I read the book and had virtually no insights into team management at all. It's analysis is kind of like: "well, you make money in the stock market by buying when the stock is low and selling when the stock is high" (but never telling us how to do that).
