This collection of advice for the Philippines is really a very bad attempt at writing anything coherent. Whoever has been giving the book good reviews should be suspected of being family, friends, and nom de plum alternate identities of the author. This is garbage. It is poorly written, repetitive, and does not tell anyone anything that common sense would tell any traveler to a foreign country with some instability. And much of the information is rather imaginative, rather than being based on real events. Taxi drivers driving around Manila looking to help groups that kidnap foreigners is quite a stretch. I rode taxis everywhere in Manila (recently) and the worst thing that I saw happen was that taxis put double and triple and quadruple the price for a foreigner. As for pen pal lovers and internet brides/girlfriends, you would have to be an utter idiot to think that everyone is who they say they are and fall for the trap of sending money to someone who you have never even met before. How crazy is that? Do I need a book to tell me something like that? This book is a real waste of time and I do not recommend it to anyone with a half decent education and some common sense.

Most of the info in this short book can be found elsewhere on the net or is just common sense. The title would suggest that the book holds some secrets, there are none. I was very disappointed in the content. I can't recommend it to anyone who wants to go to the Philippines. Much more useful info can be found on any of the many expat forums. And I'm sorry but his constant use of the phrase "Filipino women" was very annoying, when he should have just said Filipinas.

I decided to read this book out of sheer curiosity to compare what I know of my experiences there and what others gather from there.I have personally been to many provinces and municipalities in the Philippines over the years, and have been married to a woman from the Philippines for 10 years.I have know numerous people and have many friends from there.I can honestly tell you from experience that this author knows very little of the culture of the people of the Philippines. This author consistently repeats the same info over and over throughout the book.He mentions very little of the true character and loving nature of the people there, who would do anything for another and whom are very proud, dignified and respectful people. To say that Filipinas keep their boyfriends there for life is just utter ridiculousness and I have never heard of such a thing.Yes,there are scammers throughout the world, even very prevalent in the U.S. as well, but if you want true ,credible advice about traveling to the Philippines, there are many far more credible guidebooks written than this over exaggerated paranoid distorted version. This author also writes books on how to seduce women,so one should question his integrity and character. One of the biggest warning flags for me was when the author rambles on about how to "make a woman agree with you nearly all the time".He states that "unless you can make a woman agree with you, winning her heart is almost nil".He tells men to "be in charge all the time",tell her things that would blow her mind and appear the expert in subjects that she knows little about,so as to create feelings of inferiority in her".You have got to be kidding me.What a load of pure crap!

This book is a really eye opener about traveling. The Philippines is one of the most beautiful places you can find on the globe and is great tourist destination. In this book "The Whole Truths You Should Know Before You Travel to the Philippines (Second Edition)". The Author speaks on the good and the bad of Philippines. The book covers the many dangers you can encounter. It doesn't speak against visiting the island-paradise but it covers the ways of safeguarding yourself and family while on vacation. It gives a guide on specific places to avoid while visiting. This is the only that I have read with such vital information for the traveler. It speaks on how some tourists and locals have become victims to a number of terrorist groups and on how many visitors have been kidnapped and killed. The author is right when he says that while traveling safety is important so that you can enjoy your vacation to the fullest. The book also covers the many great attractions of the Philippines and how to enjoy the beauty of this lovely place. It covers the best places to go and providing pictures great tourist sights of the island. It also gives a great geography lesson on the island. This book is a complete travel guide for the Philippines and also an example of what is expected of travel agencies. This book is an eye opener to the beauty and dangers of traveling in the in the Philippines. I would recommend reading this book because it speaks the truth and the information shared is not only informative but reliable and up-to-the point as well. Grab your copy today, and why not?

Very enjoyable. In this book the author paints a broad picture of the political, social and scenic features of the Philippine Islands. The first part of the book outlines some of the many hazards that may be encountered in traveling to the Philippines. A lot of cautions and warnings about kidnapping and car -jacking and other crimes will no doubt raise real concerns, and keep the traveler very much aware of his surroundings .The author also takes some time to explain the inability of the government to provide adequate protection and that some areas are better left not visited. From criminal hazards to social ones regarding members of the opposite sex may also give pause to Philippine travel. Unusual ties between women and their former boyfriends will certainly be new to the Western man. The fact that a Filipino woman will put her family ahead of any other consideration will also be a fact that the Western man must be willing to accept. Strong warnings must also be issued regarding the common practice of requests for aid or money. This is a favorite ploy of many scam artists. Despite all this doom and gloom the islands do have a lot of very beautiful, scenic places to enjoy. Miles of white sand beaches, snorkeling in crystal clear water. Hiking, horseback riding and all the other typical tourist attractions are there to be enjoyed. This books presentation of seduction techniques can be applied to any amorous adventure and will provide much insight to becoming a successful pursuer. I was pleased to discover that the author and I agreed on many of the ways to attain success.
