5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
I had to tap it in a bit with a hammer, but I got it all the way in. I don't mind the adapter being hard to get in, because that means it'll be hard to accidentally spin, causing much greater problems. Threw in a Sugino sealed bottom bracket, some nice aluminum cranks and my single speed is done. Took a lot of weight off of my 1971 Schwinn Varsity. It's now comparable to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to fit
It's a good design except, I had a very hard time fitting it into my Schwinn cruiser frame.
The adapter fit into the bottom bracket shell only part way due to welding and reinforcing of the frame itself, "These adapters will not just slide in" and care must be taken when positioning the three bolts so as not to be obstructed by welds and metal bits in the bottom...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, April 4, 2011

This item works just as advertised. I installed this into my BMX frame that i am building from the ground up in less than 5 min. They fit snugly in with no issues what so ever. (couple hits on a 2x4 with a hammer and they were in.) Lining up the 3 holes with the 3 screws was no issue at all. once they were lined up i tightened the screws to pull the cups in the rest of the way.
I would give this item 10 stars if it were an option.
I can now use my old MTN bike crank on my BMX bike, which saves me $100's.
I would buy this again, no questions asked, and I would recommend this product to everyone in need.
If you have an American bottom bracket and want to install an old road/ mtn bike crank, this is the way to go!

It's a good design except, I had a very hard time fitting it into my Schwinn cruiser frame.
The adapter fit into the bottom bracket shell only part way due to welding and reinforcing of the frame itself, "These adapters will not just slide in" and care must be taken when positioning the three bolts so as not to be obstructed by welds and metal bits in the bottom bracket shell. I had to grind both the adapters and the bottom bracket to make it work.
I would not use this again, in fact I bought two and used one, I will be selling the other on Craigslist or giving it away.

Haven't used this item, but the quality looks great for the price. For anyone wanting to have a 3 piece crank on there BMX or older bike with larger single piece crank set, there's only two ways to go about it and this is surely one of the better of the two. It really boils down to what you personally want for appearance sake.
