5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT ELFRIEDE LOST, June 1, 2007
This review is from: Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase Volume 6 (Paperback)
When Kouhei learns that Hazuki can remain motionless for hours, he suddenly gets the idea for a portrait photo he could take of her that would be unlike any other photo ever taken. His plan works, but something unforseen happens when the higher ups at the magazine he works for want to run it as their cover shot. Of course, it won't take long for Hazuki's pursuers to see it and come to retrieve her. Volume 6 also contains the story of how Elfriede became a vampire over 100 years ago.

Volume 6 has some cute and funny moments, especially when Hazuki and Haiji do battle with a pair of crows over rice cakes! But the bulk of the volume tells the tragic tale of Elfriede, of the happy life she led until the curse of vampirism came calling in the form of her supposed father, Count Kinkle. Seeing what she suffered and what she lost really pulls at your heartstrings. Tight writing matched with cute but at times haunting artwork makes volume 6 a little masterwork.
