5.0 out of 5 stars Watery Disasters...for Younger Readers!, January 18, 2010
Since we live on a world largely composed of water, watery death and destruction are a constant. Gary Jeffrey presents a Graphic Novel view of tsunamis and floods in this informative 2007 release from Rosen Publishing. It is aimed at the 9-12 age group.

After summarizing floods and tsunamis, Jeffrey presents several Graphic Novel-like depictions of famous disasters involving each, specifically the earthquake/tsunami that devastated Lisbon in 1755, the great Midwestern flood of 1993 and the deadly tsunami that ravished the Asian coast in 2004. The book concludes with information on tsunami warning devices, a glossary and suggested readings. The book is illustrated with b&w and color photographs, diagrams and maps.

The artwork is well-done and gripping. Though the book does depict scenes of devastation and death by drowning, nine to twelve year olds should be able to handle the material.

In short, TSUNAMIS & FLOOODS is a good introduction to a serious subject. Recommended.
