Gr 4-10-Whether their interest lies in the raw power of nature or its resulting destruction, natural disasters are often a fascinating topic. This slim volume, although billed as a high-interest/low-reading level title, is likely to find a wider audience. It is packed with information on the hows and whys of tsunami creation, movement, and the damage that it causes. Each chapter opens with a brief anecdote of a true event with factual material following in short segments and sidebars. The simple diagrams are excellent and the numerous dramatic color photos enliven the presentation. A "Fact Sheet" shows a full-color, topographical world map labeled with the locations and dates of major tsunamis. Given the enduring interest in surfing and the popularity of the Disney movie Johnny Tsunami, this quality book should fly off the shelves.-Steve Clancy, Colonial Village Elementary School, Niagara Falls, NY

Learn All About Tsunamis,
By Lynn Ellingwood "The ESOL Teacher" (Webster, NY United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tsunamis (High Interest Books) (Paperback)
I found this book interesting, even though it was written before the major tsunami of 2005. It told me that tsunamis have happened before and that they happen often enough. It is just amazing how strong the last one was.
