potential but ultimately disappointing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tu-Plang (Audio CD)
I expected great things when I bought this CD after it had received great reviews in Australia. But after a few listens, it's clear it could have been better. Let me start by saying that there are some great moments. 'Kong Foo Sing' is the best song on the album and is a perfect combination of rap and funk with a bit of hard guitar and distortion thrown in - think a cross between the Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine. The other best moments are 'G7 Dick Boogie', 'Music Is Sport', the hilarious 'I Sucked a Lot of Cock to get Where I am' and 'Blubber Boy'. 'Miffy's Simplicity' is also OK. The huge disappointment for me is that I basically bought the album for the killer song 'Couldn't Do It' which is one of my favourite all time songs . But I was dismayed to find that there was a different version of this song on the album ( and a very poor, hardly recognisable one at that ). This was a huge let down. If the good version was there I would listen to this album a lot more and I would have rated it higher but this oversight prevents it from being a really good album. The rest of the songs are pretty terrible filler for the most part, especially 'Pop Porn' and 'Manana'. Overall, the fusion of styles here is terrific and the group has a unique hybrid sound going - it's a pity their musical direction altered significantly on their follow-up, 'Unit'

Regurgitator are the best band ever...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tu-Plang (Audio CD)
to the fool who doesn't know that the other version of I Couldn't Do It is on the debut EP self titled "regurgitator" and nick-named "Burger" or "the burger". This EPis the best, so is the other EP "New". So is Unit. 'Tu-Plang Kon...Uuak' is so good. I blew my top when I heard it. Stand out tracks: every one.

One of the best albums i own,
By Jimmy Sellars "J" (Melbourne, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tu-Plang (Audio CD)
I listen to everything from ska, doom metal, hardcore punk, rap, post-rock, experimental, ambient, etc...among all this music i listen to, Regurgitator is my favourite band and this album makes my top 10 favourites. From what i've read, Regurgitator have been placed in either the catagory of "pop rock and rap" or "australian rock". This doesnt do the band justice. Regurgitator are one of the most creative bands out there and deserve more worldwide recognition. They put on the most INTENSE live shows and they experiment with their music which always ends up with pleasing results.
This debut album is essential for any alternative music listener. I really do hope that Regurgitator becomes more widely known across the globe.

Australia's Best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tu-Plang (Audio CD)
One of the best groups to come out of Australia, Regurgitator blend rap, rock, dance, funk and more to bring you a unique sound. The wide variety of styles used on the album gives you some indication of the raw power and energy they bring to their live performances. Definetly a must have for any CD collection. Listen to their new album "UNIT", just as good and in your face with a strong pop orientation.

Classic pre-pop 'Gurge,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tu-Plang (Audio CD)
Sensational album that gives the best impression of the power of these guys live. In Tu Plang the 'Gurge still maintains the raw-ness that they appear to have replaced with the 'power pop' of Unit. There's an incredible variety of music styles in this album yet it's hard to place the influences such is their originality. While their new stuff is also great, it wouldn't hurt to go back to some of the 'in your face' music from this album.

This album is a fantastic effort by Regurgitator. A great range of songs, with a good variety of moods, but generally with a hard rocking feel.Try their latest CD, Unit.

I saw regurgitator opening for Melvins & Helmet on the aftertaste tour in 1997, and I'm hooked 4 life. Let me tell you, these guys are one of the best groups performing live and they are just three fellas!Do yourself a favor and buy this CD, you won't regret it never.
