Editorial Reviews

From the Author

What is dystopia? It's the opposite of utopia.

I propose utopia, not dystopia!

  • The current crop of science fiction that envisions dystopia - apocalyptic, dreary, visions of nuclear rubble, viruses, starvation, alien destruction, monsters stepping on buildings and wreaking havoc shows little hope for mankind.
  • I've seen too much dystopia in science fiction lately!
  • We need a new mythology! Maybe there's another future, maybe we just need a little help to get there, maybe we need some guidance, new mentors, new mythology, new visions and hope for a brighter future that makes its goal utopia, not dystopia
Would such a lofty goal be fraught with struggle, trials and problems along the way? Most likely, but that doesn't mean we should give it up in favor of doom.  We've all been taught that utopia is an unattainable dream, the dream of dreamers.

Maybe we get what we wish for.   We need a new vision.

I invite you to take a journey towards utopia, not dystopia in Tu & The Collectors. It's time to get back in the saddle, time to explore the universe, new planets, new peoples and new worlds!

About the Author

Tom Schaefer has been a science fiction fan since he was a boy, a lover of science fiction all his life.

Tom's own career  has given him a wealth of information and life experience to draw upon as an author.Tom served in the US Navy Submarine service,  worked for years in a career in the high tech programming computers and websites, and has a love of photography and art. One of Tom's biggest talents is his imagination.

"I've longed for a return to intelligent science fiction. I have always been inspired by stories that took me to distant worlds. That's what I wanted to do with Tu & The Collectors. I hope you enjoy this story, it's actually been a great deal of fun to see it unfold."

I am no Si Fi enthusiast, but this book is very believable for the less Si Fi savvy reader...I could really get into, and understand the concept of space travel as the author takes you step by step from a safe and sure earth as we know it, to a breathtaking possibility of other worlds far way....I found it well written with extraordinary detail of the workings of an uber modern space ship and of the characters
who inhabited it...And then... there really is a planet that is "civil-lized".

Great book! The author is right - I did see Interstellar and like this story even more! I can easily recommend this to anyone because the story line is easy to follow. Like someone else said, I'm not into hard core scifi, and this was more about the story and the people and the fascinating premise of traveling to one of these exoplanets. I really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next one!
